Who’s Playing the Blame Game?? – Abram 👉👈 Sarai-

-So Sarai, Abram’s wife, took Hagar her Egyptian maid, after Abram had dwelt ten years in the land of Canaan, and gave her husband Abram to be his [secondary] wife. And he had intercourse with Hagar, and she became pregnant; and when she saw that she was with child, she looked with contempt upon her mistress and despised her.-
(Genesis 16:3)

Hey Neighbor,

I pray that Your Christmas was filled with Joy and the Love of Christ!!

I have certainly enjoyed this Christmas Season, spending time with my Family and Friends, and I am looking forward to the New Year, 2015!!

Today, We will finally, take a peak into the the relationship between Abram and Sarai, as they walked on their Spiritual Journey with God. – Genesis 16.

Life was not so easy for them, as Husband and Wife. And so We will get a bird’s eyeview of the internal chaos in the marriage and home of Sarai and Abram…as We see how…

Sarai blames👉 Abram…AND
Abram blames👉 Sarai

As Abram and Sarai waited impatiently for the manifestation of their promised child, they lost faith in the Almighty God and decided that they should probably give Him a little assistance.

In her impatience to become a mother, Sarai was deceived and began believing that God had meant for Abram to father a child by another wife, besides herself.

Sarai believed that because of her age, she could not physically and biologically bear a child at the age of 75.
She had also believed, that if Abram could “know” a substitute wife…with the aid of a little Viagra…they could make a baby…Lol!!
And Sarai would finally become a mother.

Well, Sarai had a maid that she had brought back with her, from out of Egypt.

Her name was Hagar and Sarai had decided that she could stand as the substitute wife…and as the Viagara to her 85 year old husband, Abram.

So Sarai introduced the idea to her husband, who came in…and looked at his ‘little blue pill,’ Hagar…and instantly agreed to help God fulfill the promise, without any additional persuasion.

So of course the story tells us that after Hagar conceived, she began to despise Sarai.

Hagar had suddenly, forgotten her position in the household.

She believed that she was ‘All That!!’…As she was deceived into believing that her new status, as wife to Abram, would cause him to leave Sarai because she was the dried-up, old, and barren wife…where she (Hagar) was the fresh, fertile…and now, pregnant, new wife.

I can imagine that Hagar began to
to get a little sassy with her mistress…smart mouthing Sarai and neglecting her household chores and responsibilities.

Or

Maybe Hagar just walked about the house, provoking Sarai, by continually rubbing her swollen belly, referring to the kicking infant, as ‘Little Abe.’

Or

Maybe she began teasing Sarai because Abram was sleeping more nights in Hagar’s bedroom, as wife #2…than the nights he slept with Sarai, depriving her of her rights as the primary wife.

Well, whatever it was that Hagar said or did, Sarai was thoroughly fed up!! Hagar had successfully provoked Sarai to her breaking point and this 75 year old woman, Sarai took hold of Hagar, and…
Beat Her Down!!

So Here’s the Blame Game…

-Then Sarai said to Abram, May [the responsibility for] my wrong and deprivation of rights be upon you.-
(Genesis 16:5)

When Hagar got out of hand, Sarai faulted Abram, placing the blame on him for being so agreeable with her plan to impregnate Hagar. Sarai became jealous and enraged with Hagar’s contemptuous attitude, and pointed the finger at Abram.

Abram played along, blaming Sarai for not controlling Her maid!!

-But Abram said to Sarai, See here, your maid is in your hands and power; do as you please with her. And when Sarai dealt severely with her, humbling and afflicting her, she [Hagar] fled from her.-
(Gen 16:6)

He reminds Sarai that it was HER idea!!
He goes on to remind Sarai…that Hagar was HER maid and that Hagar had been under HER (Sarai’s) hand…HER authority and HER power…all along.

He tell’s Sarai, to take Control of the Matter!!

That’s when Sarai beat Hagar…

Hagar was hurt and afraid, as she ran away…fleeing from Sarai’s jealousy and her wrath into the wilderness.

But the Angel of the Lord redirected Hagar and sent her back to Sarai, to behave and humble herself before The Mistress of the Household.

Who Was the Deceiver??

It was the Serpent, Satan!!

Sarai, like Eve, in the Garden of Eden, allowed the Serpent to whisper in her ear, asking her…
Did Not God promise that Abraham is going to father a child??…

But see Now…how God has restrained you from bearing a child, (as mentioned in Verse 16:2)…Suggesting that she find another wife to bear the child and fulfill the covenant.

And so again…like Eve, Sarai introduces this sinful idea to her husband, who like Adam…needs no additional persuasion to partake.

I believe that just like Adam and Eve…Abram and Sarai desired to be more like God and desired to have more control over their destiny, instead of waiting for God’s timing…and so often, We find Ourselves in a similar predicament!!

As We grow impatient, while waiting on God, the devil comes in to plant his seeds of doubt and unbelief!!

He tells Us that God is not going to come through…that He will not fullfill the promise…and We find Ourselves asking…

How Long God??

Oh, God…Did You Forget Me??

When God?…When??

All the while…the devil continues lying to Us, telling Us that God’s promises and His plans are not for Us!!

So We lose Faith in the Promise…and put our human hands to work, attempting to help God!!

But God doesn’t need our help, nor does He care for Our expressions of doubt and unbelief!!

He wants us to stay in faith…believing that His Word is True and Everlasting…and that His promises are still for Us and for Our descendants!!

God is still Working on Your Behalf!!

-God is not a man, so he does not lie. He is not human, so he does not change his mind. Has he ever spoken and failed to act?
Has he ever promised and not carried it through?-
(Num 23:19)

If God spoke It…He will bring it to pass!!

So Who Will You Believe???

Will You Believe Our God, Who is Faith-Full??

Or

Will You Believe that lying Serpent??

Scripture tells Us…

-He was a murderer from the beginning and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a falsehood, he speaks what is natural to him, for he is a liar [himself] and the father of lies and of all that is false (Jn 8:44)

Look…

No matter what lies the devil has been whispering in Your ear, hold fast to God’s promises.
He Is Faith-Full and He WILL see You through…to the the very end!!

God Loves You!!
His Love is steadfast…unyielding, everlasting, uninterrupted, and continual towards Us!!

So press on in faith, believing on God’s promises…and Defeat doubt with God’s Written Word!!

Read Your Bible…and as You read through these life-changing stories, like Abram and Sarai…these stories WILL build your faith, as You battle with impatience, doubt, and unbelief on Your Spiritual Journey!!

-Yes, I have spoken, and I will bring it to pass; I have purposed it, and I will do it-
(Isaiah 46:11)

Until Tomorrow…Remember,

God Loves You and So Do I!!

Who’s Playing the Blame Game?? – Saul Blames 👉Samuel

-But those who wait for the Lord [who expect, look for, and hope in Him] shall change and renew their strength and power; they shall lift their wings and mount up [close to God] as eagles [mount up to the sun]; they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint or become tired.-
(Isaiah 40:31)

Hey Neighbor,

Yesterday, we started our Series on the ‘Blame Game.’ We talked about Eve blaming Adam in the Garden of Eden and how Adam even went so for… as to blame God!

Well, Today We will Look at Who’s playing the Blame Game Now!! – It’s King Saul

If you remember, We have met Saul before on the CareBibleStudy Blog…during Bible Trivia!!

Our trivia question was: What lost animal(s) was King Saul searching for??
[Go back and check it out, if you haven’t read it, already.   It’s great background info on Saul. To find the Previous lesson on Saul, easily…Just try typing ‘Saul’ into the Blog’s search engine.]

So Anyway…we know that the Trivia answer was: donkeys –  Saul went searching for his father’s lost donkeys, when he met Samuel, the ‘seer,’ who anointed him King of Israel.

Remember…the young man, Saul, who was from the smallest tribe in Israel, the Benjamites, was anointed to the highest rank in Israel.

When We meet Saul again, we see that Saul continues to struggle with his inferiority complex.  He struggles terribly with fear and low self esteem…1 Samuel 10, Verse 22 tells us that when Samuel went forth to officially, proclaim Saul as King, before all of Israel, Saul was afraid…and ducked down and hid away in the baggage.  Samuel actually had to pray, inquiring of the Lord as to where Saul was hiding!!

Don’t forget that Saul had already been anointed and the Spirit of God had come upon him mightily, causing him to prophesy amongst the prophets…and yet, We see here how he feared that the people would not accept him as their King.   And it was this same fear that caused him to later, make the foolish decisions that lead to his failure as King.

Now, When Samuel first poured the oil over Saul’s head, anointing him King, Samuel had given Saul specific instructions to follow:

-You shall go down before me to Gilgal; and behold, I will come down to you to offer burnt offerings and to sacrifice peace offerings. You shall wait seven days until I come to you and show you what you shall do-
(1Samuel 10:8)

As the Priest and Prophet of Israel, only Samuel had the authority to bless the offering and make sacrifices before God, but King Saul, growing fearful of the people, became impatient with Samuel and ‘forced’ himself to make the burnt offering, although he was forbidden to do so.

Wow!!

‘Forced’ himself…That was the wording that Saul used, as he began to point the finger 👉 of blame at Samuel, attempting to justify his own disobedience.

-Samuel said, What have you done? Saul said, Because I saw that the people were scattering from me, and that you did not come within the days appointed, and that the Philistines were assembled at Michmash, I thought, The Philistines will come down now upon me to Gilgal, and I have not made supplication to the Lord. So I forced myself to offer a burnt offering.-
(1Samuel 13:10-12)

Samuel is both disturbed and disappointed at Saul’s accusations and at his foolish behavior, as he chastised him, telling him that because he failed to keep the Lord’s commandments, God had dethroned him!!
Samuel explains that God had sought out and found an obedient King to replace Saul – ‘A man after God’s own heart’- That man was David.

So…Here We see The Blame Game Continues as Saul attempts to displace his personal failures upon the head of Samuel, because he was late!! – When the truth was…Saul was afraid of the Philistines and so were the Hebrews that had followed him into Gilgal…but when the Hebrews began to lose faith in King Saul and began to scatter from him, Saul grew weary of waiting for Samuel and was not willing risk losing the favor and support of the people.

Remember…in Saul’s mind, he desperately needed the people’s support to keep him lifted up…and because he was so afraid to lose their support, Saul foolishly, jumped the gun…made the sacrifice…and failed to wait on Samuel, but most importantly, Saul failed to wait on the Lord.

Saul took his eyes off God and focused them on the people. He had so soon forgotten, that it was the Lord who had raised him up from his prior, meager existence and not the people. He had not perceived that, although the oil was poured upon him by Samuel hands, the anointing had come from God!!

He had no confidence in the Holy Spirit that had come upon him so mightily…Therefore, he acted in his own might and abused his authority as King, and defied the Living God!!

Saul Blamed Samuel for his Faith-Failure!!

Who Are You Blaming For Your Faith-Failure??

We have all lost our faith, and have walked foolishly, in fear. Remember, even Abraham, the ‘Father of Our Faith’ behaved foolishly while waiting on God!!

But We must be mindful to accept responsibility for our own failures and shortcomings and PRAY!!

God is waiting for Us to seek his face, asking Him for help and strength in Our time of weakness and insecurity. Samuel could have gone directly to God in prayer, while he waited on Saul!!

And when the scary situations in our lives bring fear…We too can Go to God in prayer, while we wait on Jesus!!

The Old Saints used to say…He may not come when You want him…but He’s always on time!!

So instead of Continuing the Blame Game, Let’s continue to Wait on the Lord….looking for Him and confidently expecting Him to show up with Strength and Power!!

Tomorrow, We will Look at How well Abram and Sarai played the ‘Blame Game.’

But Until Tomorrow…Remember,

God Loves You and So Do I!!

The ‘Blame Game!!’

– And the man said, The woman whom You gave to be with me she gave me [fruit] from the tree, and I ate. And the Lord God said to the woman, What is this you have done? And the woman said, The serpent beguiled (cheated, outwitted, and deceived) me, and I ate-
(Genesis 3:12)

Hey Neighbor,

This is another Story that Joyce Meyer reads at her conferences.
I like this one because, it gives a great representation of…
‘The Blame Game.’

Here’s the Story…

This is a story about Four People named, Everybody, Somebody, Anybody, and Nobody.

There was an important job to do and Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it.

Anybody could’ve done it, but Nobody did it. Somebody got angry about that, because it was Everybody’s job.

You See, Everybody thought Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn’t do it!

It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody, when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.

Funny… Huh??

You Know the Blame Game originated in the Garden of Eden.

Eve blamed the Serpent for beguiling her…Adam blamed Eve for sharing the forbidden fruit with him…And Adam even blamed God for making the Woman and giving her to him…Lol!!

You see, Adam and Eve Were placed in the Garden with a job to do:

-And God blessed them and said to them, Be fruitful, multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it [using all its vast resources in the service of God and man]; and have dominion over the fish of the sea, the birds of the air, and over every living creature that moves upon the earth.
(Genesis 1:28)

So Just like the Four People in today’s story…

Adam Had a Job to do- But, he did’t do it!!

Eve had a job to do- but, she didn’t do it!!

When they failed to do their jobs, following God’s orders – his commands – they blamed one another and even blamed God!!

And the Blame Game Continued from there…

This Week We are going to Discuss some ‘Finger Pointing’ Characters from the Bible…and How they refused to accept responsibility for their own Faith-Failures…On-the-Job.

Tomorrow, We will Discuss the Failures of King Saul…and identify on Who, What, and Where…Saul pointed his finger…placing the blame for his Failure as King of Israel!

Until Tomorrow…Remember,

God Loves You and So Do I!!

What Will You Give Jesus…This Christ-Mas??

-For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?-
(Matthew 16:26)

Hey Neighbor,

I Love It When God is doing something New!! Don’t You??

I Wrote a Poem to Jesus!!

It’s my Christ-Mas gift to Him.

Here’s the New Poem…

-He talked with his Father saying…Yes, I Will Go!!
Sent to Us as a gift, wrapped in swaddling clothes
The Shepherds, by night, were the first ones to hear
The Angels lullaby to the baby so dear
The Wise Men had come, they had traveled afar
Guided to that Sweet Babe, by a great Eastern star
He laid in the manger, receiving His guests
With gifts they adored Him, bringing their best
He grew up in The Lord, with plans for the Lost
He had come to save sinners, his life paid the cost
He went down in the Jordan, He was baptized in Love
Holy Spirit came upon him – just like a Dove
He went to the wilderness, He fasted and prayed
Preparing Himself for that last evil day.
He walked all about, healing sick and the lame
If asked to die for your sins, I could not do the same.
He sweated blood in the garden, as He prayed for God’s Will
My sins were before Him – His life paid my bill.
That day…Was it really so evil at all??
God had planned it ahead, knowing that Man would Fall.
He came to die on the cross, for a wretch, just like me
Hung His head and He died – He was nailed to the tree
What can I give Jesus for His great sacrifice??
I can give Him My soul…I Will give Him My Life!!

What Will You Give Jesus…This Christ-Mas??

Torment- Disguised as Comfort!!

-But the Spirit of the Lord departed from Saul, and an evil spirit from the Lord tormented and troubled him. Saul’s servants said to him, Behold, an evil spirit from God torments you-(1 Samuel 16:14)

Hey Neighbor!

We had a Great Time in Bible Study this Tuesday Night. We talked about the heartache of spending the Holidays, separated from our loved ones, due to past hurts…but We also know that Jesus can Heal Us EVERYWHERE We Hurt!!

Here’s Our Lesson…

In Genesis 27:1, We meet Isaac, the son of Abraham. Isaac has now reached old age. He has gone blind and is preparing to die and leave an inheritance- the double portion blessing- to his elder, and favorite son, Esau.

If you Recall our lesson on the ‘Prince that Wrestled with God,’
Esau and Jacob were twin brothers.
(You can go back and check it out on the blog, when you’re done here)

-Esau was a cunning hunter, a man of the field; and Jacob was a plain man, dwelling in tents. And Isaac loved Esau, because he did eat of his venison: but Rebekah loved Jacob-

(Genesis 25:27)

So when We meet the two brothers, We learn that Esau is out in the field, hunting for deer, because his father, Isaac had made a special meal request, before he proceeds to give Esau the blessing.

But we also find Rebekah, Isaac’s Wife, ‘ear hustling’…She overhears the conversation between Isaac and Esau and devises a plan to prevent Isaac from giving the blessing to Esau – Her husband’s favorite son…because she wants Isaac to give the blessing to Jacob – her favorite son.

So she tells Jacob to bring her two young goats (kids), so that she can cook them and season them up…disguising them to taste like the deer meat. She realizes that her time is limited to set the wicked plot in motion, because Esau will be returning with the deer…and will come in and quickly get setup to prepare it-just the way Isaac likes it.

So she goes to Esau’s closet, grabbing his very best suit…after all, receiving the blessing was cause for celebration.
(Of Course I realize there were no closets…nor suits, back then…lol)

So Rebekah tells Jacob to put on Esau’s suit, because…Although Isaac has gone blind, his sense of smell is acute…therefore, Jacob had better smell like Esau, if he planned to be successful.

Now, this Mother-Son plot involved great deception…they would send him into Isaac’s bedroom, carrying the meal that Rebekah had prepared and seasoned to perfection, with Jacob…dressed up like Esau!!

The only problem was…Esau was a hairy man…and Jacob was not. So Jacob, feared that his father would ask to touch him. So his mother, placed the skins of the goats on Jacob’s hands and his neck, to establish a rough, hairy feel and texture…then she sent him in to Isaac…disguised as Esau!!

So Isaac Tests Jacob…

Isaac eats the Meal…and it passes his taste test.

Isaac feels Jacob’s kid-skin clad hands…and they pass the touch test.

Isaac hugs and kisses Jacob, clad in Esau’s garments…and Jacob passes the smell test.

And although Jacob’s voice does not pass the sound test…Isaac proceeds to bless him anyway, placing his right hand upon his head…and giving him the double portion of the abundant blessings that he, Isaac, had inherited from his own father, Abraham…

But no sooner than Jacob leaves out, Esau comes in, fulfilling the special request, ready to feed his father the well-prepared deer. Esau is now ready to receive his rightful blessing…but he is only met with disappointment and heartbreak when he learns that Jacob has once again, tricked him…and has now stolen his blessing and his identity!!

So Esau mourns bitterly before his father, but he comforts himself in his heart with a plot to kill his brother, after their father dies.

When Rebekah learns of Esau’s plan, she gives Jacob fair warning and sends him away to her brother, Laban’s house in Padan-aram to escape the wrath of Esau.

The Scripture says that:
-Rebekah sent for Jacob her younger son and said to him, See here, your brother Esau comforts himself concerning you [by intending] to kill you-
(Genesis 27:42)

Now this statement that Rebekah made to Jacob is significant, because it discloses a spiritual truth about the broken fellowship between the two brothers.

Yes!! Jacob did cheat and deceive Esau, terribly…and so did his mother, but Esau was also deceived by a spirit of Revenge.

Notice that the scripture shows Us how this spirit of revenge came in, disguising itself as…Comfort.

Wow!!

When the actual, truth is…that it slithered in, as a tormenting spirit to continually trouble Esau, by stirring up the offense of the deception that he experienced…over and over again, in Esau’s mind…causing the feelings of hurt and bitterness to remain fresh, and brand-new…and not permitting Esau to heal, emotionally.

This spirit was successfully, able to trick Esau into believing that if killed his brother..,then he would be vindicated… And all the wrongs done to him would be made right.

I am amazed at how tightly Esau held on to this false-comfort…for twenty years.

Verse 44 tells Us that even Rebekah thought that Esau’s fury towards Jacob would only last for a few days. She believed Esau’s feelings of hatred and anger would subside, shortly…but it was not so… that Spirit of Revenge lurked about and lingered, hanging-on to Esau for 20 years.

And yet, I was more amazed when I read how Esau ran to his brother Jacob, and embraced him, and fell on his neck, and kissed him, and wept when they finally met up again, at the end of the 20 year separation.

But… Look at how long the spirit of Revenge had prolonged the separation and prevented this beautiful reunion between two brothers…locking out forgiveness and keeping peace from coming in and healing their hearts and minds.

Esau was tormented by a Spirit of Revenge.

And…Yes!!
Jacob was tormented also…by a Spirit of fear.

And Here’s My Question, Today…

Is there a spirit tormenting you??

Is it Troubling You and hindering You from Your joyous reunion between You and Your loved-ones??…and all the while…disguising itself…as Comfort!!

Why Comfort??

Because the devil deceives us into believing that it feels good for us to stay mad at the ones that have hurt us.

He tricks us into believing that we have the offender locked up and bound in a cage of Guilt and Shame because of their sin…

When the truth is…We are the ones bound…wrapped-up and tied-up in the Cage of Unforgiveness!!

But Here’s the Great News…

If You have accepted Jesus Christ, The Son of God, as Your Personal Savior, He’s already forgiven You AND Set You Free!

-So if the Son liberates you [makes you free men], then you are really and unquestionably free. –
(John 8:36)

So…Break-out of Your Cage, Today by Forgiving Your Brother or Sister…Then You CAN Release Yourself from that Tormenting Spirit, that has beguiled you for so long… dressed up as Comfort.

Wield Your Sword – Like My Dad, Hubert!!

-For though we walk (live) in the flesh, we are not carrying on our warfare according to the flesh and using mere human weapons. For the weapons of our warfare are not physical [weapons of flesh and blood], but they are mighty before God for the overthrow and destruction of strongholds-
(2 Corinthians 10:3-4)

Hey Neighbor,

Today We will Be Preparing to Carry The Sword of the Spirit into Battle, and as We come to a close of our Study on ‘The Whole Armor of God,’
I wanted to Share with You How my ‘bible-toting’ Father, Hubert Horton, Jr., walked before The Lord, Wielding his Sword of The Spirit- The Word of God – His Bible.

My Father was a Great, ‘Faith-Full’
man. He was peaceful and kind and for some reason, I watched him intently. I realize now, that I was awed by his Faith-Walk. He loved Jesus and He loved to read his bible.
It was the the first thing he did in the morning…He grabbed his bible and his cigarettes and spent forever in the bathroom…reading and smoking!! Lol

He was our alarm clock…so after he was done with his ‘bathroom bible study,’ he would wake us up to get ready for school.

He would always make my lunch for school. I loved bacon…and I still do…so as he was making my bacon sandwich, he was having his daily ‘kitchen bible study. ‘

He would have his radio playing, as he listened to the different radio preachers…sitting with his bible open at the kitchen table, with a cup of tea. He would sit there so peacefully, reading his bible, smoking his cigarettes, until it was time for him to take us to school.

Of Course, the bible study continued in the car, as he listened to more radio preachers and as he played, what I call ‘country gospel,’ during the short ride to school.

Back then, I don’t recall him leaving the house carrying his bible, but later in his life…he carried his bible with him EVERYWHERE he went.

My siblings and I were grown, by then…and at that time…we could not grasp the spiritual significance of what he was doing. We were embarrassed because…this was not just Sunday morning – ‘bible-toting’ that Daddy was practicing. This was everyday…out-in-public and we were concerned that someone, who we knew, might see him carrying his bible and say that he was ‘Crazy.’

We realized that there was no way we would be able to convince him to leave his bible at home, so we bought him a book-bag so that he could still carry his bible around…but just keep it hidden.

But Daddy was not Ashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ…and he knew that his bible was his Sword of the Spirit…and he was ‘Faith-Full’ to Carry it…Read It…and Wield it!!

Although My siblings and I thought my daddy was tripping and considered his ‘bible-toting’ to be extreme, He wasn’t crazy, he knew exactly what he was doing…
He knew that he was actually,
‘Sword-Toting!!’

You See…My Dad was a Schizophrenic, and he knew that if he didn’t fill himself up with the Word of God and keep the Belt of Truth strapped around his waist, those schizophrenic voices from Hell, would come back…lying to him…confusing him…stealing his family, his peace, and most importantly, his sanity.

He was diligent and dutiful to take his meds, but he knew he was in a Spiritual Battle for His mind…so he could not afford to give the devil any room, nor another opportunity to establish a stronghold over him.

You see, while he was ‘sword-toting,’ he had read 2 Corinthians 10:5
-[Inasmuch as we] refute arguments and theories and reasonings and every proud and lofty thing that sets itself up against the [true] knowledge of God; and we lead every thought and purpose away captive into the obedience of Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One-

So he knew how to use The Word to cut-down the strongholds that had once overtaken him…with his Sword!!

When Satan slithered in, telling his best lies…Daddy compared the lies of Satan – to the Truth he learned in God’s Word, which he had hidden in his heart (not in a book bag)…and when the TRUTH of God’s Word prevailed over the devil’s lies…(and it ALWAYS does)…Daddy slashed the lies down!!

So when the devil came…lifting up and exalting schizophrenia, and depression… trying to deceive him and convince him that mental illness was greater than the One True, Living God…Who Daddy knew so well…because he had walked with Him and talked with Him daily, in prayer and study…Daddy rejected It…He refused to Fall Back!!

Instead, he cast down those spirits of schizophrenia and depression…caged them up…chained them up…and he dragged them away captive to Jesus, his Reigning King… where these wicked spirits were forced to behave, bow-down, and submit to The Name and Authority Of Jesus!!

So…For Daddy, the Sword of the Spirit was his Daily Weapon…and We too, must be ‘Faith-full’ and diligent to Read and Study God’s Word daily…so that We are armed and ready to Wield Our Sword, with skill and ease, And Cut that devil Down!!

After All…There is a Real, Spiritual War going on!!

And take the helmet of salvation and the sword that the Spirit wields, which is the Word of God-
(Ephesians 6:14-15)

Until Tomorrow,

Remember…

Leave Your Hat at Home – Instead, Put on the Helmet of Salvation!!

-Leave no [such] room or foothold for the devil [give no opportunity to him]-
(Eph 4:27)

Hey Neighbor,

Some of my best childhood memories are of spending the Summer with my Great-Great Grandma, Lollie. We called her, Mamma.

She was born in 1897, so she was 76 when I was born, but nobody would have guessed because that beautiful, little old lady was like a work-horse.

Every morning, she would get up at the crack of dawn, making her coffee and singing her Southern Spirituals.
Then she would get out in the yard with the hoe and the shovel.

It was time to break up those weeds before they could take over her garden. Then she would get the shovel to gather up the weeds, along with their broken roots and toss them over into the alley, so that they would not have a chance to take root again.

You see, she knew that she had to be diligent to keep the weeds… and their seeds out, preventing them from establishing a foothold, because once they rooted themselves in…it would be difficult to break their strong-hold.

You’re probably thinking…Why the Gardening Lesson??

Where is the Lesson on The Helmet of Salvation??

I’m getting there…Lol

You See, The Helmet of Salvation is As much a Defensive weapon for our Mind’s…As the Hoe and Shovel are defensive weapons in the garden.

My grandma spent her mornings defending her territory against the weed’s foothold…which would have eventually become a stronghold in her garden. And we must also defend our territory and the spiritual progress that we have gained…thus preventing the devil’s foothold into our thoughts and his inevitable plan to establish a stronghold in our minds.

What is a stronghold??

A stronghold is a thought pattern that holds us captive…and We just can’t seem to escape from those reoccurring thoughts. Psychologist’s would call it an addiction…and it is a spirit of addiction…only this evil spirit comes to possess or take root in our minds.

Just like the weed…it takes root in our garden, aiming to wrap it’s vines around the roots of our strawberries, and blueberries…attempting to choke them out…

satan plants his spiritual seeds of wickedness into our minds, attempting to control our thought life…and thus choking out the fruit of the Spirit (love, peace, joy, goodness, kindness, patience, meekness, faith, and self-control).

You See…with the fruit gone and/or diminished…there is now more room for satan’s wicked little seed to grow-up and take root…until it becomes a full grown, deeply rooted monster!!

That monster is sin…Fully Grown…and satan knows that it will kill us!!

The Apostle, James says it like this:
-But every person is tempted when he is drawn away, enticed and baited by his own evil desire (lust, passions). Then the evil desire, when it has conceived, gives birth to sin, and sin, when it is fully matured, brings forth death-
(James 1:15):14)

Although it is not a sin to be tempted (the sin comes when we fall into the temptation), We must be diligent to keep these spiritual seeds of wickedness from getting into our heads…That’s why We must put on the Helmet of Salvation – That’s Jesus – In Whom We have our Hope.

There is Power in The Name of Jesus!!

When those evil thought patterns slither up from Hell…We can call on the Name of Jesus!!

Philippians 2:10 tells us that: (at) the name of Jesus every knee should (must) bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, And every tongue [frankly and openly] confess and acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father- That Includes satan and his demons!!

When we call on the Name of Jesus, the Hope of Our Salvation…the roots of spiritual wickedness can be hoed down, and broken from our thought-life…And…When Jesus reigns as King in our thoughts…and our mind’s, He takes these evil spirits captive, casting them out…and back into Hell, where they belong!!

-And take the helmet of salvation and the sword that the Spirit wields, which is the Word of God-
(Ephesians 6:14-15)

So, when your getting Spiritually dressed in the morning…Be Sure to Put on your Helmet of Salvation!!

But…Beware!!

Because Satan will be seeking and searching to find any breaks, openings, or gaps in Your Armor…so that he can slither through, but We will seal those openings with the Sword of the Spirit- Which is the Word of God!!

That’s Tomorrow’s Lesson…

So Until Tomorrow,

Remember…

God Loves You and Do I!!

Article of Armor – The Shield of Faith

-So let’s do it – full of belief, confident that we’re presentable inside and out. Let’s keep a firm grip on the promises that keep us going. He always keeps his word.-
(Hebrews 10:22) Message Bible

Hey Neighbor,

When my kids were smaller, they loved to play video games with their Dad. They played pac-man, racing games, and spaceship games, but their favorite was what we called the ‘fight game.’

In the Summertime, they would sometimes stay up all night ‘fighting.’.

From time to time, they would beg me to come and play along…but I didn’t know what buttons to push. They had been playing so often, that they had memorized the buttons and had even learned special button combinations that gave their fighter
‘super-moves.’

They tried to teach me some of the combinations, but the only button I could remember quickly was the shield button. So when their fighter came against me, with all his/her super- moves and battle combinations…the only way I knew to hold my Ground was to firmly, press my Shield Button until I could build up enough courage to fight back.

Now, of Course We know that the battle that we face..is no game!!

This thing is for real…so God has Armored us with A Real Shield…
The Shield of Faith!!

-Lift up over all the [covering] shield of saving faith, upon which you CAN quench all the flaming missiles of the wicked [one].-
(Ephesians 6:16)

We are in a Real Life-or-Death Battle with a real devil and his real demons that are mercilessly, trying to take Our Lives…So when the enemy comes against us, in hot pursuit, with everything he’s got…employing his demons to team up against us, throwing his fiery darts and arrows at us continuously, We Must Stand our Ground – Holding up Our Spiritual Shield of Faith!!

Donnie McClurken, says…After You’ve done All You CAN…You just Stand!!

But here is what We Can Not Do!!

We Can Not let the enemy push Us back, after We’ve made much progress and gained spiritual ground. We Can Not get ‘punked’ again and turn back and run!!

Although We are temporarily, at a stand-still…We Can Still…Stand!!

Now is Not the time to entertain thoughts of fear and unbelief!!

Now is Not the time to give-up or faint!!
There is no white flag attached to Our Amour…So surrender Is NOT an option!!

The Apostle Paul tells us,
-IN [this] freedom Christ has made us free [and completely liberated us]; stand fast then, and do not be hampered and held ensnared and submit again to a yoke of slavery [which you have once put off-
(Galatians 5:1)

Now is Not the time to accept defeat or submit to Hell’s captivity.
We are Not the property of Satan…so We Can Not retreat back into his filthy hands and back into the sin that enslaved Us and controlled Our lives.

We are the Children of God…His Property…dressed in His blessed Armor…So We Must Stand on God’s Promises…Raising Up Our Shields… Pressing forward, by Faith!!

When the devil is coming against you with everything he’s got…Will You Hold Fast to God’s Promises??

Will you Still…believe God promised that – No weapon that is formed against You shall prosper??
-(Isaiah 54:17)

Will You still believe that God said -He will never fail You nor forsake you?? -(Joshua 1:5)

Will you still believe that God said- You have the favor of The Lord and it surrounds You as a Shield??
-(Psalms 5:12)

Will you continue to believe, with confident expectation that the Battle is Not Yours, but it’s God’s??
-(2 Chronicles 20:15)

NOW Is the Time…and This is What We CAN Do!!

Now, Is the time to hold fast to your profession of faith…without wavering back and forth between hope and fear….and between trust and unbelief!!

If Faith is the substance of the things we hope for and the evidence of the things we Can Not see..and if We are hoping to see God’s Deliverance, then…NOW Is the time to take title to It…
Believing on God’s Promises from
‘The Word’ with All of Our heart…with All of Our Soul..and with All of Our Might…That’s Your Shield!!

We Must believe that God is Coming Through with Deliverance…Sending His Angels to Accompany, Defend and Preserve Our Lives!!
-(Psalms 91:11)

So Be Encouraged in the Lord!!

Hold Fast and Firmly, to Your Shield…Gripping it with everything You’ve got…and keep Pressing Forward, By Faith!!

We Can Win this Spiritual Battle…and if You Peak to the end of the story…We Do Win!!

Article of Armor – Put on Your Peace Shoes!!

And having shod (shoes) your feet in preparation [to face the enemy with the firm footed stability, the promptness, and the readiness produced by the good news] of the Gospel of peace.
(Eph 6:15)

So Now we have strapped on the Belt of Truth and We’re wearing the Breast Plate of Righteousness and Now We’re able to Stand…but there is a war going on all around us and We’re not going to win this Spiritual Battle by being immobile….We have to ‘Go’ forth – Walking in the Shoes of Peace.

From Yesterday’s Lesson, We learned that We have already acquired Peace, when we were filled with the Fruits of the Holy Spirit.

Now, this is no ordinary peace, but it is the Peace that Transcends All Understanding!!

Here’s the part that We do Understand…

This is an Old-heirloom Peace – An inherited Peace, passed down through many generations…It’s the Same Peace That the disciples inherited when Jesus bequeathed it to them saying:
-Peace I leave with you; My [own] peace I now give and bequeath to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid-
(John 14:27)

Jesus knew that after He had gone away, that the disciples would become cowardly and fearful when it came time for them to battle against the devil…and He knows that we too, sink back into fear, having been intimidated by the roars of Our enemy.

The Apostle Peter said: …- For that enemy of yours, the devil, roams around like a lion roaring [in fierce hunger], seeking someone to seize upon and devour-
(1 Peter 5:8)

…And not only is he seeking to devour us, but he also has a battle plan – A well thought out evil, strategy to cause Us to Fall…so that He can sink his teeth into our hearts and rip our lives apart.

So Watch Out For his Set-Up!!

He’s laid out his traps and snares to tangle us up in offense, unforgiveness and bitterness…Causing us to Fall-Out with our Sisters and Brothers…Thus, Stealing our Peace!!

…Leaving us, caught-up in his deception, believing that Our Sisters and Brothers are the enemy…and treating them as such…when the devil was the instigator, all along.

Satan knows that He can render us immobile without our Peace…and he can hinder our walk…Stopping Us
from going forth as Jesus’ disciples…and as His hands and feet; As His witnesses to tell the world the Good News about Jesus and about the Peace that He Purchased for Us!!

Yes!! Jesus Paid it All…He is Our Peace Between Us and God!!

So…God is not Mad at Us!!

Jesus Is the Lamb that was slain before the foundation of the World!!

He Was the Ultimate, Acceptable Sacrifice to God for the remission of Our Sins!!

Jesus – Walking Salvation has Come Into the World!!

…And He Left Us…Heirs to Salvation…His Peace!!

So As We Walk out to the Battlefront, we must Be Spiritually prepared to…

Step-over offense!!

Kick unforgiveness to the curb!!

Trod-down bitterness!!

…and Stomp on that slivering, lying, devil’s head!!

We’ve gotten ‘Punked’ by the devil for far too Long…It’s time to put him under Our Peace-Shod Feet!!

..So Let’s keep it moving…’Go!!’ Walk-On in Peace… with Yo’ ‘Bad’ Shoes on!!…Sharing the Good News about Jesus Christ with your friends, your family, your neighbors, and All the World!!

Till tomorrow, When We will Put on our Shield of Faith!!

God’s Peace Be With You…

God Loves You and So Do I!!
