More ‘Sunday School’ Humor – LOL!!

-Allow the little ones to come to Me, and do not forbid or restrain or hinder them, for of such [as these] is the kingdom of heaven composed.
(Matthew 19:13)

Hey Neighbor,

I wanted to share another Sunday School Story that I read. It’s Funny and it’s Just one more reason for Us to take the children to Sunday School!!

Here’s the Story…

A Sunday school teacher was carefully explaining the story of Elijah the Prophet and the false prophets of Baal. She explained how Elijah built the altar, put wood upon it, cut the steer in pieces and laid it upon the altar. And then Elijah commanded the people of God to fill four barrels of water and pour it over the altar. He had them do this four times.

“Now, said the teacher, “can anyone in the class tell me why the Lord would have Elijah pour water over the steer on the altar?”

A little girl in the back of the room raised her hand with great enthusiasm. “To make the gravy,” came her enthusiastic reply.

LOL!!

Hope You Laughed…Too!!

David’s RSVP!!

-THE LORD said to Samuel, How long will you mourn for Saul, seeing I have rejected him from reigning over Israel? Fill your horn with oil; I will send you to Jesse the Bethlehemite. For I have provided for Myself a king among his sons-
(1Samuel 16:1)

Hey Neighbor,

It’s Wednesday…And You Can Get Over The Hump!!

This ‘Wednesday’s Word’ is about David, my favorite bible Character. No doubt this lesson will be the first of many more relative to this ‘Awesome Dude.’

I shared a little humor last week about how God can use Us, although We are imperfect. That Lesson (God Wants You 👈!!) showed Us that David, amongst many other bible characters, was imperfect…yet useable, in God’s economy. David had these three strikes against him. But God didn’t count him out…Hallelujah!!

1. David had an affair w/Bathsheba
2. David was too young.
3. David’s Armor didn’t fit.

Today We will address Strike #2 – David Was Too Young!!

Here’s Wednesday’s Word…

King David began to reign, as King of Israel when he was 32 years old, but He was anointed by God while still in his teens.

David was handpicked by God to replace King Saul, who God had rejected as King because of his continual disobedience.

In Verse 1 (1 Samuel 16:1), We see where God redirects Samuel, who was very disappointed with King Saul and was grieving, exceedingly over his friend, Saul because of his ‘Faith-Failures.’

So…God had sought out and had chosen David, a ‘man after His own heart,’ yet David did not receive an invitation to his own ‘Anointing Party.’ LOL!!

God had instructed Samuel to invite Jesse, David’s Father to the sacrifice…along with ‘ALL’ of his 8 sons, but Jesse neglected to invite David because he was just, too young.
See…David was the baby boy in the family, and had spent most of his time out in the field, tending to his father’s sheep.

Also…Jesse did not believe that the Lord would choose little David…Nor did Samuel!! In Fact…God did not even make Samuel aware, beforehand, which of Jesse’s sons he was to anoint.

God was doing His ‘Walk by Faith’ thing again…telling Samuel to – GO- and I’ll show you ‘what’ you shall do…and ‘who’ you shall anoint, when You get there!!

I Love It…God is So Cool!!

So Samuel was ever ‘faith-full’ and obedient, as He went forth and waited for the Lord to confirm the identity of the ‘man’ after His own heart. Prior to the Sacrifice, all of Jesse’s sons – minus David- had been, cleaned up…and consecrated for this most holy occasion…where each of the boys would be introduced, individually, and presented to Samuel, the Prophet.

First came Eliab, but…God rejected Eliab!!

Then came, Abinadab…but God rejected Abinadab!!

Then came, Shammah…but God rejected Shammah!!

So after seven of Jesse’s eight sons had passed before Samuel…God rejected each of them!!

Then Finally, Samuel realized that Jesse had failed to RSVP a seat for the youngest…yet… the chosen son.

-Then [he] said to Jesse, Are all your sons here? [Jesse] said, There is yet the youngest; he is tending the sheep. Samuel said to Jesse, Send for him; for we will not sit down to eat until he is here-
(1 Samuel 16:11)

When David arrived, in his shepherd’s clothing, not yet washed, nor consecrated, and as he passed before Samuel, The Lord confirmed the identity of ‘His Chosen Man.’ “The Lord said [to Samuel], Arise, anoint him; this is he” (1Sa 16:12)…w/sheep smell and all…

So Samuel Arose and anointed David with oil, in the presence of his brothers and his father. Although Jesse, Samuel and his brothers had rejected David, deeming him unworthy and unfit to reign as King, because they looked at his outward appearance…God saw his heart (his intents and thoughts) and had Approved and Accepted him!!

The World looked at David…and saw a ‘boy’ who was Too Young…Too Short…and Too Dirty…

But God looked at David…and saw a ‘Man’ with a ‘heart’ for God!!

God Saw that David was ‘Righteous’…He believed in, trusted in and relied on God!! David would later, in his life, become the writer of most of the Psalms…where in so many of them, he revealed his heart to God and proclaimed His Love for God!!

Sure David may have appeared to be Young, dirty, and maybe even short, but God had chosen him…hand-picked him…prepared a table…filled his cup…and…reserved his seat…as ‘His Anointed’ King of Israel!!

WOW!!

-You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my [brimming] cup runs over- (Psalm 23:5)

God IS So Awesome!!

A Little ‘Sunday School’ Humor – LOL!!

-Allow the little ones to come to Me, and do not forbid or restrain or hinder them, for of such [as these] is the kingdom of heaven composed. And He put His hands upon them, and then went on His way-
(Matthew 19:13)

Hey Neighbor,

I wanted to Share This Sunday School Story with You that I read this Weekend.

It’s really cute…and it’s just another reason to bring the children to Sunday School.

Lol!!

Here’s The Story…

Little Bobby was spending the weekend with his grandmother. His grandmother decided to take him to the park on Saturday morning. It had been snowing all night and everything was beautiful. His grandmother remarked…”doesn’t it look like an artist painted this scenery? Did you know God painted this just for you?”
Bobby said, “Yes, God did it and he did it left handed.”

This confused his grandmother a bit, and she asked him “What makes you say God did this with his left hand?”

“Well,” said Bobby, “we learned at Sunday School last week that Jesus sits on God’s right hand!”

…Too Funny!!

I Hope You Enjoyed a Little laughter…I Sure Did!!

Until Tomorrow, When we Will Share ‘Wednesdays’ Word’ Together,

If You Are A Believer…Then You Are ‘Saved!!’

-But truly, she is my sister; she is the daughter of my father but not of my mother; and she became my wife. When God caused me to wander from my father’s house, I said to her, This kindness you can show me: at every place we stop, say of me, He is my brother-
(Genesis 20:12-13)

Hey Neighbor!!

Sunday’s Trivia Question Was:

What two Bible Characters Were both Husband and Wife…And also Sister and Brother??

Answer: Abraham and Sarah

Yes…Abraham and Sarah were indeed Married-Siblings. According to Genesis 20:12, Sarah Was Abraham’s ‘half-sister.’

They shared the same father, Terah…but they had different mothers…and from time-to-time, they neglected to share the whole truth about their relationship…In other words…They Lied!!

We see in Verse 13, Abraham and Sarah connived together, and agreed to tell this lie about their relationship…”every place they stopped”…and yet God still called Abraham ‘Faith-Full,’ and a ‘Friend of God.’

So…Why did God call Abraham ‘Friend’ in James 2:23??

…Why does the Bible call Abraham the Father of Our Faith in Romans 4:16??

Because Although Abraham was an imperfect individual…an incestuous, liar…guilty of sin…deserving of death…
HE BELIEVED IN GOD…by Faith!!

-And he [Abram] believed in (trusted in, relied on, remained steadfast to) the Lord, and He counted it to him as righteousness
(right standing with God)-
(Genesis 15:6)

It wasn’t because of Abraham’s perfect life or his excellent behavior…or his attempts and efforts (his works) to try to behave and live a ‘saved’ life that God considered him righteous!!

But is Was Because Abraham BELIEVED in God…Even Though Abraham was still lying and living a ‘jacked-up’ life…

We cannot make ourselves Righteous…no matter how ‘saved’ or ‘holy’ We ‘strive’ to live.

We can only BELIEVE unto Righteousness…by Faith!!

-For it is by free grace (God’s unmerited favor) that you are saved (delivered from judgment and made partakers of Christ’s salvation) through [your] faith. And this [salvation] is not of yourselves [of your own doing, it came not through your own striving], but it is the gift of God-
(Ephesians 2:8)

So On Your Very Best Day…When You’ve ‘Strived’ to Be Your ‘Holiest’ – When You’ve repented and prayed first thing in the morning…

When You’ve gone out and fed the hungry and clothed the poor…

When You’ve said all the right words…blessing and edifying Your sisters and brothers in Christ…

When You’ve avoided the alcohol and drugs…

When You’ve passed on playing that hand of ‘Spades’…

When You’ve resisted the temptation to lust after that attractive man or woman…

When You’ve Gone to Prayer Service…and Prayed…Danced…and Shouted!!

…And When You’ve made it home, at the end of the day to bless Your family, pray and repent again for all the sins that You’ve committed and also for those You’ve omitted, before going to bed…

God says all these good and wholesome efforts and attempts at striving to attain righteousness are like filthy, greasy rags!!

-We are all infected and impure with sin.
When we display our righteous deeds,
they are nothing but filthy rags.
Like autumn leaves, we wither and fall,
and our sins sweep us away like the wind.-
(Isaiah 64:6)

We are not ‘saved’ By Our Works – Our Best Efforts to avoid Sin and to Repent from sin are Not an Acceptable Sacrifice to God!!

Praise God that ALL of Our Current Sins…And ALL of Our Future Sins, Have Already Been ‘Whited-Out’ By the Blood of Jesus!!

Because of His ‘Free’ Gift…

From God…To the Believer-

Called GRACE!!

We are ‘saved’ by God’s Grace…through faith…when We BELIEVE in God’s Son, Jesus Christ!!

-Namely, the righteousness of God which comes by believing with personal trust and confident reliance on Jesus Christ (the Messiah). [And it is meant] for all who believe. For there is no distinction-
(Rom 3:22)

So Righteousness is meant for ‘ALL’ BELIEVERS!!

And…So, there is no distinction between circumcised and uncircumcised…there is no distinction between drunk and sober…there is no distinction between Abstinent, Virgin…and Adulterous, fornicator!!

God says The Sinner is ‘Made Right’ when He Believes…not when He ‘Gets Right’…and not when He begins to ‘Live Holy!!’

We are ‘Made Holy’ ONLY Because Christ IS Holy…and ONLY because Christ Dwells on the inside of Us, by His ‘Holy’ Spirit!!

We are Made Fully, Totally, and Completely, Righteous when We ‘BELIEVE’ In Jesus Christ…And Confess that He IS Our Lord!!

So When That Alcoholic Believes and Confesses that Jesus is his Lord…He is ‘Saved’ even though he hasn’t yet, quit drinking…

When That Prostitute Believes and Confesses that Jesus Christ is her Lord…She is ‘Saved’ even though she hasn’t yet, quit turning tricks…

-Because if you acknowledge and confess with your lips that Jesus is Lord and in your heart believe (adhere to, trust in, and rely on the truth) that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.
(Romans 10: 9-10)

So No Matter What our External Condition Is…

Before Jesus…

Our Internal Condition is Changed…After Jesus!!

He Makes Us ‘Holy’ Inside…Even Though Our External Condition is Yet…unchanged!!

After We Believe In Jesus and We Confess Him with Our Mouth…Then…The Holy Spirit comes to live in EVERY single one of Our hearts…circumcising our hearts…convicting US of sin…and convincing Us that habitual sin is not acceptable for Our New Lives…and He Transforms Us…from the inside out…by renewing Our Minds with the ‘Saving’ Truth of God’s Word!!

Jesus Justifies Us…and ‘Makes’ it Just-as-if We have Never…Ever Sinned!!

Just Like The Alcoholic…never drank!!

Just like the Prostitute…never turned a trick!!

God Does Not Condemn Us Because We Battle with Our Flesh…Nor because We are Imperfect…Because Jesus Christ has Cleansed Our Hearts and He has Perfected Us!!

…And The Holy Spirit is Transforming Us…from the inside-out…So Let The Holy Spirit have HIS Way in Your Life…cooperate with HIM…and Let HIM finish ‘HIS’ Job!!

Jesus Loves You and If You Have Received Him…You Have Believed unto Salvation!!

Believer, We WILL Be in Heaven, Together!!

God Loves You and So Do I!!

Shake It Off…And Step Up!!

-David was greatly distressed, for the men spoke of stoning him because the souls of them all were bitterly grieved, each man for his sons and daughters. But David encouraged and strengthened himself in the Lord his God-
(1 Samuel 30:6)

Hey Neighbor,

This is a little story I found online.

When Life Throws a Little Dirt at You…Encourage Yourself in The Lord!!

Here’s the story…

This parable is told of a farmer who owned an old mule.

The mule fell into the farmer’s well. After carefully assessing the situation, the farmer sympathized with the mule, but decided that neither the mule nor the well was worth the trouble of saving. Instead, he called his neighbors together and told them what had happened…and enlisted them to help haul dirt to bury the old mule in the well and put him out of his misery.

Initially, the old mule was hysterical! But as the farmer and his neighbors continued shoveling and the dirt hit his back, a thought struck him. It suddenly dawned on him that every time a shovel load of dirt landed on his back…HE SHOULD SHAKE IT OFF AND STEP UP! This he did, blow after blow. “Shake it off and step up…shake it off and step up…shake it off and step up!” He repeated to encourage himself. No matter how painful the blows, or how distressing the situation seemed the old mule fought “panic” and just kept right on SHAKING IT OFF AND STEPPING UP! It wasn’t long before the old mule, battered and exhausted, STEPPED TRIUMPHANTLY OVER THE WALL OF THAT WELL!

What seemed like it would bury him, actually helped him…all because of the manner in which he handled his adversity. THAT’S LIFE! If we face our problems and respond to them positively, and refuse to give in to panic, bitterness, or self-pity…THE ADVERSITIES THAT COME ALONG TO BURY US USUALLY HAVE WITHIN THEM THE VERY REAL POTENTIAL TO BENEFIT US!

Be Encouraged…You are on the Winning Team!!

-What then shall we say to [all] this? If God is for us, who [can be] against us? [Who can be our foe, if God is on our side-

Wanted – Moses, A Fugitive From Justice!! Part 2

-And Moses said, I will now turn aside and see this great sight, why the bush is not burned. And when the Lord saw that he turned aside to see, God called to him out of the midst of the bush and said, Moses, Moses! And he said, Here am I-
(Exodus 3:3-4)

Hey Neighbor,

Today We are continuing with Part 2 of God’s transformation of Moses-
From Lawbreaker to Lawgiver.

Here’s the Story…

So Moses was a Fugitive from Justice…seeking Refuge in Midian. Pharaoh had placed a warrant out for Moses’ arrest for the pre-meditated murder of an Egyptian taskmaster.

Now Moses was about 40 years old when he arrived in Midian, where he spent another 40 years as a humbled sheep herder, until God called his Name at the Burning Bush; and authorized the now, 80+ year old Moses to return to Egypt.

How interesting that 40 years prior, Moses had decided, of his own accord, that HE was deemed fit and ready to put an end to the burdensome oppression of his brethren in Egypt…But God said, “NO!”

God’s Timing is not Our Timing!!

God lead Moses into the wilderness and in those 40 years, had transformed him from a ‘Proud Prince’ to a poor, meek, and lowly shepherd. Instead of Moses being the ‘hot-headed’ head of Egypt…he was now a servant on the back side of the desert.

God had taught Moses how to be the shepherd of his father-in law, Jethro’s sheep, in preparation for the next 40 years that Moses would spend as shepherd of his Father, God’s sheep…the Israelites.

So when God Spoke to Moses at the burning bush, Moses was afraid and hid his face. God told Moses that he was no longer wanted in Egypt for Murder and that He was Now, according to God’s timing, ready to return.

Moses was not excited about God’s bright idea (🔥fire…bright..lol!!), so he told God that He had chosen the wrong guy. He explained to God how he was not able to speak eloquently and that He was slow of speech, with a heavy and awkward tongue.

This excuse, amongst all the others, was not acceptable to God. God encouraged Moses, as He promised him that He would be with him as he approached Pharaoh’s throne. God told Moses that there was no need to fear for lack of words, because He would be ‘with his mouth,’ teaching him what words to say as he spoke to Pharaoh.

God was not pleased with Moses’ reluctance. God had spent 40 years familiarizing Moses with the back side of the desert; preparing Moses for this very task.
There in the Wilderness, God had deemed him fit. No more excuses…Now was the time!!

No…Moses, although hand picked by God, had not been ready to lead at age 40, but now…God had made him ready and equipped him to lead His people, Israel, out of Egypt by the means of a fresh, meek and humble spirit vs. the aggressive and violent spirit that had previously plagued Moses.

God continued to encourage Moses, as He told him that He would also teach him what to do, before the Israelites to gain their trust. God had taught Moses how to use his staff as a comforting guide to the sheep…now God would use this same rod to produce miracles, that would gain Moses the trust of his brothers, causing them to believe him and hearken unto Moses, as their Shepherd.

And so Moses, still reluctant, but Obedient, returned to Egypt as God had commanded. He was a New Man, having been transformed by God in the Wilderness.

Indeed Moses did deliver the Israelites from their slavery and captivity, putting an end to Pharaoh’s burdensome oppression of God’s Sheep in Egypt…but it was not done by Moses’ might or power, but because Moses cooperated with God…God used Moses, His Word, and a humble shepherd’s staff…transformed into the ‘Rod of God.’

Wanted – Moses, a Fugitive From Justice!!

-When Pharaoh heard of it, he sought to slay Moses. But Moses fled from Pharaoh’s presence and took refuge in the land of Midian, where he sat down by a well-
(Exodus 2:15)

On Monday, We talked about several Bible characters who were imperfect beings, who had lived imperfect lives…like Us!!

Now, the only reason that We have heard and read about their life stories is because they eventually cooperated with God…Allowing Him to transform them into New Men and Women.

Let’s look at Moses…A stuttering boy, who was adopted by a rich family. Moses believed that he was above the Law and he grew up to become a murderer and a fugitive from Justice!!

Here is Part 1 of Moses’ Story…

Sure…We have All been taught the Sunday School Lesson about how Moses’ mother placed her baby boy into a basket of papyrus and sent him floating down the Nile River, where Pharoah’s daughter took mercy on the Hebrew child and adopted Moses as her own.

Although Moses was raised-up as a Royal Egyptian Son, he was very much aware of his ethnicity. He was born Hebrew and he realized that his ‘people’ were being oppressed and enslaved under the authority of His adopted Family, Pharoah…yet he felt great compassion for his Hebrew brethren.

Moses was a full-grown Man when one day, he saw an Egyptian soldier beating one of his Hebrew brothers and Moses killed the Egyptian. Now, when We read Chapter 2 and Verse 12 of Exodus, it is clear that Moses did not just ‘snap,’ misjudging his strength and before he knew what he had done…the Egyptian was dead on the ground.

Moses had gone out with the purpose of seeing the oppression of his Hebrew brothers. Now, when he saw the Egyptian was beating the Hebrew man, Moses made a decision to stop the Egyptian from physically abusing his brother.

Scripture tells us that Moses had a plan…to make sure that the coast was clear and that no one was watching, as he looked to left… and then to the right, before he struck the Egyptian down.

Scripture does not say whether or not Moses had to drag the body away, but it does tell Us that Moses hid the Man’s body and buried him in the sand.

I wonder if Moses had trouble sleeping that night, after having killed the Egyptian in cold-blood? Either way…He got up the next morning…as if nothing had happened and went out, again to look upon his people.

On this day, he saw two of His Hebrew brothers quarreling and fighting. Moses was disturbed at their disloyalty for one another and when he jumped in to break up the fight, Moses asked the aggressor, “Why are You striking Your comrade?”

I’m sure Moses was shocked to hear the response of the aggressor, who said, “Do You intend to kill Me as You killed the Egyptian?”

So Moses’ secret had been uncovered and he was afraid. Although he had been very careful to be sure that there were no Egyptian witnesses to the murder, he did not foresee that his Hebrew brothers would “snitch.”

When Pharoah received the report, He sent his troops to arrest Moses, but Moses ran from the police. Moses was subject to receive the death penalty, according to the law…so he escaped from Egypt and became a fugitive from Justice for forty years.

WOW!!

The Only thing I can say is…But God!!

Thank God that When We Finally stop running away from Him, and Run to Jesus…

He ‘Just-if-ies’ Us – It’s ‘Just-as if-I’ had never sinned!!

Come back Tomorrow…As We will see how God Transforms Moses and ‘Just-if-ies’ him…making him fit and ready to serve as a ‘deliverer’ to His Hebrew brethren.

Until Tomorrow,

Driver’s Permit

Hey Neighbor,

I have had a Busy day today, so here’s a little light humor between a Christian Father and His Son!!

I found this on Bible.org

Here’s the story…

A young boy had just gotten his driving permit. He asked his father, who was a minister, if they could discuss the use of the car. His father took him to his study and said to him, “I’ll make a deal with you. You bring your grades up, study your Bible a little and get your hair cut and we’ll talk about it.”

After about a month the boy came back and again asked his father if they could discuss use of the car. They again went to the father’s study where his father said, “Son, I’ve been real proud of you. You have brought your grades up, you’ve studied your Bible diligently, but you didn’t get your hair cut!” The young man waited a moment and replied, “You know Dad, I’ve been thinking about that. You know, Samson had long hair, Moses had long hair, Noah had long hair, and even Jesus had long hair….” To which his father replied, “Yes, and they walked every where they went!”

Hope You Enjoyed…
