Super-Faith Sunday Challenge- Who is She??

Hey Neighbor,

It’s Super-Faith Sunday, where we are accepting today’s challenge to find real women from the Bible, who won their real life battles- not with the use of physical weapons, like swords or sling-shots, but instead – By Faith!!

These women continued to hope and believe, refusing to accept “No!”- for an answer!!

They pressed on, believing that God was going to send relief for their sufferings. And of course God did richly reward these ladies for continuing to fight the Good Fight of Faith!!

Hint****

Today’s Female was not born into the Tribe of Israel, but she was a Canaanite woman, who was blessed to have a husband- from the line of Abraham- or at least she thought she was blessed, but her first husband was a wicked man and God killed him, leaving her widowed and without a child.

The Book of GENESIS *hint-hint* does not reveal very much about this woman’s history/background, but we do know much about her future, because she will eventually become pregnant and she will go on to become one of the female ancestors listed in the line of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!!

Here is Today’s Super Faith Sunday- Female:

********************

Can You name this ‘faith-full’ female??

  • This Canaanite woman continued to believe for a child, although she had already buried her first two husbands.
  • She was left widowed by her first wicked husband, and she was mistreated by the second, but still she waited patiently for her third husband.
  • Her Father-in law restrained her from the arms of her promised third husband, leaving her still childless.  Yet she refused to give up until her womb was filled through God’s promise to Abraham.

Grab Your Bibles and Go!!

I will post Your Answer on Tuesday.

Have Fun!!

Until Next a Time, Keep Fighting The Good Fight of Faith!!

‘Oldie But a Goodie’ Friday- Jesus’ 12 Disciples!!

-For consider your calling, brethren, that there were not many wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble; but God has chosen the foolish things of the world to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to shame the things which are strong-

(1 Corinthians 1:26)

Hey Neighbor,

Today is ‘Oldie but a Goodie’ Friday, where we resurrect some of Our older CareBibleStudy Lessons.

Today’s Lesson was originally posted in January of 2015. It reminds us that although we are sometimes rejected by man’s standards, We are made qualified in Christ!!

This is Pretty Funny- Enjoy!!

I found this on Bible.org:

It would be the response from a modern day Consulting Firm, if Jesus had requested a ‘Wordly’ organization to evaluate His Choice for His 12 disciples.

To: Jesus, Son of Joseph

Woodcrafter’s Carpenter Shop
Nazareth 25922

From: Jordan Management Consultants

Dear Sir:

Thank you for submitting the resumes of the twelve men you have picked for managerial positions in your new organization. All of them have now taken our battery of tests; and we have not only run the results through our computer, but also arranged personal interviews for each of them with our psychologist and vocational aptitude consultant.

The profiles of all tests are included, and you will want to study each of them carefully.

As part of our service, we make some general comments for your guidance, much as an auditor will include some general statements. This is given as a result of staff consultation, and comes without any additional fee.

It is the staff opinion that most of your nominees are lacking in background, education and vocational aptitude for the type of enterprise you are undertaking. They do not have the team concept. We would recommend that you continue your search for persons of experience in managerial ability and proven capability.

Simon Peter is emotionally unstable and given to fits of temper. Andrew has absolutely no qualities of leadership. The two brothers, James and John, the sons of Zebedee, place personal interest above company loyalty. Thomas demonstrates a questioning attitude that would tend to undermine morale. We feel that it is our duty to tell you that Matthew had been blacklisted by the Greater Jerusalem Better Business Bureau; James, the son of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus definitely have radical leanings, and they both registered a high score on the manic-depressive scale.

One of the candidates, however, shows great potential. He is a man of ability and resourcefulness, meets people well, has a keen business mind, and has contacts in high places. He is highly motivated, ambitious, and responsible. We recommend Judas Iscariot as your controller and right-hand man. All of the other profiles are self-explanatory.

We wish you every success in your new venture.

Sincerely,

Jordan Management Consultants

Wow!!

So…Do You qualify to be One of Jesus’ disciples??

-So Jesus was saying to those Jews who had believed Him, “If you continue in My word, then you are truly disciples of Mine; and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free-
(John 8:31)

The World Would say No, but Jesus says Yes!!

So…Believe confidently, in Jesus. Trust, lean, and rely on Him and abide…dwell, take up residence in His Word and in His Presence.

He is Teaching You and Preparing You to ‘GO’ into all the World…that’s on Your job…in Your neighborhood…in the hospitals…in the prisons…in the clubs…and on the streets…Sharing The Good News of Our Freedom in Christ!!

-And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation. He who has believed and has been baptized shall be saved; but he who has disbelieved shall be condemned.-
(Mark 16:15-16)

Until Tomorrow, Let’s Be Amazed at God, Together…

Bible Trivia Thursday- Whose Dream Is This??

Hey Neighbor,

In Our 3 Part Series on ‘The Pit Before the Palace,’ we have been learning about Joseph, the ‘master of dreams’ and the 2 consecutive dreams that he had in the Land of Canaan.

If you need to play catch-up, here is the link – and also hints in Part 1:

Now did you know that Joseph was not only a dreamer, but he was also a dream interpreter??

God had given Joseph the supernatural insight to understand ‘God-granted’ visions, given to men by night. This gift contributed to the favor that Joseph had amongst kings and nobles while he lived in the land of Egypt.

We learn more about this in Genesis, Chapters 40 and 41, where Joseph is asked to interpret several dreams of men, who were quite troubled by these night visions.

Do you know who these men were??

Well that’s Our Trivia Thursday Challenge!!

**********************

Who was the ‘dreamer’ of each of these 5 dreams??

  1. Who dreamed about 3 branches on a vine?
  2. Who dreamed about 3 cake baskets on his head?
  3. Who dreamed about 7 handsome cows and 7 ugly cows?
  4. Who dreamed about 7 plump ears of corn and seven thin ears of corn?
  5. Who dreamed about 11 stars, 1 sun and 1 moon? (This one is easy!!)

The Pit Before the Palace Part 3 – It’s a Trap!!

Hey Neighbor,

In our last lesson, we learned that Joseph grew up in a very dysfunctional family, and that his father, Jacob was not very attentive to his older sons, nor did he discipline them for their wrongdoings.

This is a poor parenting style that never profits the sons, nor the father.

Here is more evidence from a previous CareBibleStudy Lesson, where we learned about another dysfunctional family and their father, ‘Pastor’ Eli, who also refused to chastise his two wicked sons – and the tragic consequences thereafter.

But For Today- As We begin Part 3 of our Lesson, we find that young Joseph has had yet another dream and unfortunately, he has decided to share the details with his green-eyed brothers.

This is not a Good Idea!!

Well…This 2nd dream was the straw that broke the camel’s back…so at this point, Jacob’s sons are fed up with Joseph, his dreams, and of course, his coat!!

Now Joseph’s Father, Jacob would from time to time, send Joseph out into the wilderness to check on his brothers, as they fed their flock.

If you recall from our Bible Trivia- ‘Jacob’s Sons,’ this was how Jacob acquired the bad report about his 4 sons – who Jacob had by his 2 concubines, Bilhah and Zilpah.

😰 Too Many Wives!!

So of course, we are not surprised to learn that Joseph’s brothers were never excited about him showing up on the job-site. They knew that Joseph was going to return to their father, Jacob with a full and detailed report on all of their antics!!

Genesis 37-12

But here we find that Jacob has cause to, once again send Joseph out to check on the older boys, but unbeknownst to Jacob, today he would be sending his favorite son to the slaughter!!

Now, as Joseph approaches Jacob’s bloodthirsty sons in Dothan with the flock, they are not at all surprised to see him coming. They are watching Joseph, from the distance, and poor Joseph is walking right into their trap!!

  • And when they saw him afar off, even before he came near unto them, they conspired against him to slay him. And they said one to another, Behold, this dreamer cometh.  Come now therefore, and let us slay him, and cast him into some pit, and we will say, Some evil beast hath devoured him: and we shall see what will become of his dreams. (Genesis37:18-20)

Having conspired together against Joseph, the majority of the brothers had cast their vote, in the affirmative, to rid themselves of ‘the dreamer,’ but they were 1 vote shy.

Who was the hold-out?

That would be Reuben, Jacob and Leah’s first son, who voted against killing his brother, saying let’s not kill him, but instead we will just throw him into a nearby pit.

Scripture tells us that Reuben was secretly planning to return to the pit, maybe after the brothers were headed home, with the intention to rescue Joseph and return his little brother back home, securely in his dad’s arms.

You see, as the oldest son, Reuben would be held responsible if anything had befallen his little brother, and Reuben had already made a stink of himself in Jacob’s household when he secretly ‘went into his dad’s concubine’ – he ‘polluted Jacob’s couch.’

To say this in more plain terms- Reuben secretly had intercourse with one of his dad’s wives- Bilhah, his step-mother.

So, as you can imagine, Reuben could not afford to be found in-league with his brothers and their plot to shed Joseph’s blood.

So now in full agreement, the boys have decided to toss Joseph into the pit- but first they stripped Joseph of his colorful coat!!

Then, believe it or not, they sat there callously, around the pit and very casually ate their lunch- as if they were at a church picnic!!

Wow!!

Can you believe that??

They seemed to be quite pleased with how they had so humiliated their brother. All the while, I’m sure that Joseph was in anguish and agony, cold, thirsty, and maybe even hungry, as he pleaded with his brothers for mercy.

But there was no mercy bestowed-or was there??

Now another one of Leah’s profit thirsty sons, Judah arbitrarily decided that it would be more advantageous if they sold the boy to the passing caravan of merchants, who were heading to Egypt. After all, How could Joseph’s dreams of becoming their master come to pass, if he had been sold into servitude.

We’re not told why Judah introduces this alternative suggestion. Maybe Joseph’s repeated cries of distress had begun to tug at Judah’s guilty heart- or was it that God was providing a Ram in the Bush- sparing Joseph’s life?

I believe the latter!!

But here, scripture simply tells us that like his older brother Reuben, Judah does not want to shed his brothers blood.

Now when Reuben returns to the pit- finding an empty hole with no Joseph in it- he is livid!! He is boiling over when the brothers confess that they have sold Joseph out of his hands of surety.

But why did Reuben expect to find honor amongst thieves??

Remember, these are the same guys who ran in to pillage the land, for profit after Simeon and Levi had killed Shechem and his household!!

For some reason, Reuben had separted himself from his brothers- maybe he was preparing things for his later return to rescue Joseph. We are not told, but while he was away, Judah, and his two murderous brothers, Simeon and Levi, as well as the other remaining brothers took secret council and voted to sell Joseph.  They profited themselves 20 pieces of silver for the sell of Jacob’s beloved boy, Joseph.

So now Jacob’s deceitful sons must again conspire to cover-up their devious deed!!

They have done a treacherous thing in Israel!!

They have dishonored their brother, Joseph!!

They have dishonored their father, Jacob!!

And Most of All…

They have dishonored The God of their father, Jacob!! But God saw this Evil thing that they had done in secret. And Although they had set a trap for Joseph and stripped him of his coat, they could not strip him of his Comforter.

God had indeed provided a ram, and Joseph’s life was preserved, but unbeknownst to Joseph’s brothers, it was they who remained in the lair.

They had set themselves up to live with the consequences of the lies and deceit from this 1 day for the next 15+ years of their lives…always fearing that their father would learn the truth of their treachery.

What a ‘PIT-I-FULL’ Life!!

Joseph’s God had pulled him up and out of the pit, but now Joseph’s brothers have fallen into the depths of the pit themselves!!

-Whoever digs a pit [for another man“s feet] shall fall into it himself…(Proverbs 26:27)

Neighbor, Have You Fallen into A Trap??

If so, today You too can cry out from the pit for Mercy and Deliverance!!

Your Father, God will hear Your cries of distress and He will Provide a Ram for Your Salvation!!

That Ram’s name is Jesus Christ!!

And today you can receive Jesus Christ as Your Own Personal Savior.

Good News!!

There’s no hard work involved…if You will simply believe that Jesus Christ is the Resurrected Son of God. And confess with your mouth that “Jesus is Lord!” and Ask him to be the Lord of Your Life….then instantly, Your heart will beat and circulate the cleansing blood of Jesus Christ.
And He will free your soul from the heavy burden of lies and deceit that have entrapped you for years and years!!

God Loves You and He is Listening…Cry out to Him today and receive Jesus Christ!!

Give Him Your Life Today and He will Reward You with Everlasting Life!!

The Pit Before the Palace- The Dysfunctional Family!!

-You are jealous and covet [what others have] and your desires go unfulfilled; [so] you become murderers. [To hate is to murder as far as your hearts are concerned.] You burn with envy and anger and are not able to obtain [the gratification, the contentment, and the happiness that you seek], so you fight and war. You do not have, because you do not ask. [I John 3:15.] (James 4:2)

Hey Neighbor,

Sometimes we can read a scripture and overlook the Truth of the Word on that Bible page, because we haven’t yet fought that particular battle in our real lives- although Scripture is Always current and relevant.

Well, I would imagine if Jacob’s sons had been born after James wrote the verse above, I think it would have been more than relevant. It would have been right in-time!!

One of the boys might have read that page – in awe…then stopped to say,

“Oh My Lord! That’s Us!!”- right there on the pages of my Bible.

You know that’s what happens when we find ourselves convicted by the Truth of God’s Word!!

Maybe the brothers would have reversed their paths and repented of their sins…

Maybe they would have found themselves saddened and/or grieved because they hated their brother!!

Hopefully you have already read through Part 1 of the Pit Before the Palace, if not you will want to go back and check it out.

https://carenrcinesl.wordpress.com/2022/02/06/the-pit-before-the-palace-part-1/

Here is Our Lesson
*******************

Now here we see that Jacob’s sons not only hated their brother, Joseph, but they also hated that coat!!

And the brothers were very unhappy and extremely angry with their father Jacob, because he was far too attentive to Joseph, leaving them feeling abandoned and neglected.

You know, sometimes kids will ‘act-out’ to get their parent’s attention….although Jacob’s kids were extremely misguided and had misbehaved to a much, much, higher degree…they were simply fighting for their father’s attention.

They didn’t understand that they could just talk to their dad about the bitterness they felt towards Joseph, and explain that they were hurt by the open favoritism that Jacob had shown amongst his sons. Neither did they think to talk to God about this problem- they just declared war.

Reuben was warring with his father, Jacob when he secretly slept with his stepmother Bilhah(Jacob’s concubine.)

Simeon and Levi were warring with Jacob when they decided to take charge over their sister, Dinah’s future and then killed her fiance, Shechem.

Now, Scripture tells Us that God chastens those whom He loves, but these boys were not chastened by their father, nor do we read where Jacob disciplined them for their wrongdoings.

-Those whom I [dearly and tenderly] love, I tell their faults and convict and convince and reprove and chasten [I discipline and instruct them]. Revelation 3:19

But now we find that Jacob’s sons have now turned their ‘swords’ of war on Joseph (the son whom their father dearly and tenderly loved) and now they are planning to kill him!!

Hopefully todays Lesson gave us a little more background on Jacob’s sons and their wicked dealings, but I also hope these last 2 lessons also gave us a peak at the parental failures, particularly Jacob’s – which I believe greatly contributed to Jacob’s dysfunctional household.

You know, My mother used to say, parenting doesn’t come with an instruction manual…but maybe she was looking for a ‘man-made’ manual…

When what we really need is the The Holy Spirit, inspired Word of God.

The Bible is our instruction manual for living and we can pick it up, read it, and pray that The Holy Spirit will show Us how to troubleshoot the error codes in our parenting styles.

None of Us have been perfect mothers nor fathers…but praise The Lord that we have a Perfect Father in Heaven!!

And we have, His Son Jesus…and We can assuredly rest in His Imperfectness!!
