Trivia Tuesday – Name That Prophet/King!!

  • ABOUT THAT time Herod (Agrippa) the king stretched forth his hands to afflict and oppress and torment some who belonged to the church (assembly). And he killed James the brother of John with a sword (Acts 12:1)

Hey Neighbor!

Last week, we talked about Herod (Agrippa’s) tragic death in Caesarea, where he was struck down by an angel of the Lord and was eaten by worms.

Agrippa was a cold-hearted, brutal King, who resisted God and did not give Him his due Glory.

Before his death, Agrippa took pleasure in persecuting the apostles!!

In fact, He killed James, and he even jailed Peter, having fully intended to kill him also!!

What a wicked man from a wicked family of Kings!!

Agrippa’s treacherous grandfather, Herod the Great, sought after the baby Jesus, with intent to kill him, and Agrippa’s incestuous uncle killed one of the last Old Testament prophets!!

Can You name That Prophet?? And……..

If your answers are correct, I will hold them in pending, so don’t fret….I got You!!💪🏾

  1. John The Baptist is introduced in the Old Testament as the Lord’s messenger (prophet.) He carries the (prophet) baton into the New Test, before Jesus arrives on the scene as Messenger (Prophet), King, Priest, etc etc.

BEHOLD, I send My  1messenger, and he shall prepare the way before Me. And the Lord [the Messiah], Whom you seek, will suddenly come to His temple; the  2Messenger or Angel of the covenant, Whom you desire, behold, He shall come, says the Lord of hosts. (Mal 3:1)

  2. He is OT indeed Jesus said in Math 11:11, ““Assuredly, I say to you, among those born of women there has not risen one greater than John the Baptist; but he who is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.” and also, “All prophets prophesied until John..”

Jesus it the first prophet in the NT

  3. If you consider the bringing in of the New Testament, Hebrews 9:15-28 tells us that the blood of Christ has initiated the New Testament for us.
Since John was killed before the death of Christ, that makes him the last Old Testament prophet.
In fact, the Old testament is still in force, it gets very involved, but suffice it to say that when the law renders us dead, it makes us available to the grace and mercy of God in the New testament.

  4. See! I just learnt something else. I was way off track in my search because the words Old Testament sent me to the Old Testament to search. After trawling through the chapters for quite a while I asked my husband and he mentioned something about one of the Herods that he remembered from a bible story. I am putting my hands up and saying, I don’t know this one. ☺️

  5. This one has me scratching my head Tam. Who was the last Old Testament prophet? New Testament Herod who killed James, Herod who tried to kill Jesus and another Herod? Would John the Baptist be considered Old or New Testament? 🤔
