Jesus Has A Warrant Out For Your Salvation!!

-Or what woman, having ten [silver] drachmas [each one equal to a day’s wages], if she loses one coin, does not light a lamp and sweep the house and look carefully and diligently until she finds it-
(Luke 15:8)

Hey Neighbor!

Jesus was an Awesome Story Teller….

In Luke 15:8-10, He Tells a Parable about a woman who had lost a coin…Well this woman had obviously misplaced one of her silver coins and had begun to despair over it. Now when she realized that one of the coins was missing, it must have been in the evening time, because scripture tells us that she needed light…so she lit a lantern.

You see…this woman couldn’t rest because she needed to locate the thing that she had lost…and she needed the light to help her navigate her way through the maze of furniture, in the darkness.

So She began to clean her house…Can you picture her sweeping the dirt floor, bending down to look underneath the furniture and peering behind the doors, emptying baskets, and wiping the dust from the tables. We don’t know how long the woman searched…but it is quite possible that she was up all night…she was steadfast and determined to spot out her lost coin of silver…when suddenly, her eyes finally noticed the sparkle of the coin, reflected by the light. She had found it!!…and what did she do??

She ran to her neighbors houses, awaking them…to share the Good News, so that they might come to celebrate this joyous occasion!!

-And when she has found it, she summons her [women] friends and neighbors, saying, Rejoice with me, for I have found the silver coin which I had lost-
(Luke 15:9)

The thing that was lost..was now found!!

***********

So what’s so significant about this story??

Well Jesus has been looking for You…He has been shining His Light of Salvation out for You!!

Stop Running!!

Stop Hiding!!

Let Him Find You!!

And Let His Love come upon you…

because No matter what you’ve done in the past…

…and no matter how long you’ve been running from Him…

Jesus Still Wants You!!

Let His Holy Spirit come in and Clean-Up Your Spiritual House – From top to bottom – From the inside out!!

Receive Jesus Today – Pray This Prayer:
I believe that Jesus is the Son of God and that He took on ALL of my sins on the Cross at Calvary and died in my place.

Jesus, I welcome you into my heart and want You to be the Lord of my Life. I believe that today I have received Your Holy Spirit, as a security deposit and as a guarantee of My Salvation!!

Jesus, Thank You for Saving Me!!

*******
If You Just prayed this prayer…Guess What??

You Are Saved!!

And….Now there is a celebration going on in heaven!!

And…This Party is Just For You!!!

So Go!!…Run and Tell Your Neighbors that You have been Saved…and invite them to Your Salvation Party!!

Guess What…Jesus Will Be There!!

-Even so, I tell you, there is joy among and in the presence of the angels of God over one [especially] wicked person who repents (changes his mind for the better, heartily amending his ways, with abhorrence of his past sins-
(Luke 15:10)

Trivia Thursday – Name That King!!

– The name of Saul“s wife was Ahinoam daughter of Ahimaaz. The commander of his army was Abner son of Ner, Saul“s uncle. Kish the father of Saul and Ner the father of Abner were sons of Abiel (1Samuel 14:50)

Hey Neighbor!

In the lead scripture above, we see where King Saul had chosen Abner, his close relative (uncle) to serve as his military commander over Israel.

Now there was another King in Israel, who had also chosen a close relative to serve as his military commander, as well!!

This close relative/army commander was not the king’s uncle…but instead, he was a nephew to the King (his sister’s son).

Can You Name This (Uncle) King?

And Can You Name His Nephew/Commander?

Trivia Tuesday – Name That Prophet!!

– And He said to me, Son of man, can these bones live? And I answered, O Lord God, You know (Ezekiel 37:3)

Hey Neighbor!

In our lead Scripture, we see that The Lord God had set Ezekiel down in the midst of the valley of dry bones.

It was there that the Lord God commanded Ezekiel to prophesy to the bones, and then the bones came together, and the flesh covered them, but still there was no life in them!!

So The Lord God commanded Ezekiel to prophesy to the breath and spirit, and there the spirit and breath came into the bones and now they lived, and stood upon their feet.👣

Can these dry bones live??

Well, after the hearing of the Word of the Lord, It was revealed to Ezekiel, that they could indeed!!

Now there was another well known prophet who caused a deceased man to stand to his feet…and not because he prophesied, as Ezekiel had done.

But because there remained power and virtue in this prophet’s bones, even after he had been dead and buried, in his own sepulcher.

So much so, that as this (deceased) man was being laid to rest…and as his body was being lowered into the ground…it made contact (in the grave) with this Old Testament prophet’s bones…and immediately, the recently deceased man was revived, and also stood to his feet👣

Which Old Testament Prophet’s Bones were these?

Can You Name That Prophet??

Bible Brain Teaser – Find 30 Books of The Bible

Hey Neighbor!

Can you find thirty (30) books of the Bible in the paragraph below?

Actually, there are thirty-one (31) Bible names, if you can find the variant of one Old Testament prophet.

*********************************************

This is a most remarkable puzzle. It was found by a gentleman in an airplane seat pocket, on a flight from Los Angeles to Honolulu, keeping him occupied for hours. He enjoyed it so much, he passed it on to some friends. One friend from Illinois worked on this while fishing from his john boat. Another friend studied it while playing his banjo. Elaine Taylor, a columnist friend, was so intrigued by it she mentioned it in her weekly newspaper column. Another friend judges the job of solving this puzzle so involving, she brews a cup of tea to help her nerves. There will be some names that are really easy to spot. That’s a fact. Some people, however, will soon find themselves in a jam, especially since the book names are not necessarily capitalized. Truthfully, from answers we get, we are forced to admit it usually takes a minister or a scholar to see some of them at the worst.
Research has shown that something in our genes is responsible for the difficulty we have in seeing the books in this paragraph. During a recent fund raising event, which featured this puzzle, the Alpha Delta Phi lemonade booth set a new record. The local paper, The Chronicle, surveyed over 200 patrons who reported that this puzzle was one of the most difficult they had ever seen. As Daniel Humana humbly puts it, “The books are all right here in plain view hidden from sight.” Those able to find all of them will hear great lamentations from those who have to be shown. One revelation that may help is that books like Timothy and Samuel may occur without their numbers. Also, keep in mind, that punctuation and spaces in the middle are normal. A chipper attitude will help you compete really well against those who claim to know the answers. Remember, there is no need for a mad exodus; there really are 30 books of the Bible lurking somewhere in this paragraph waiting to be found. God Bless.

Solution Saturday Answer- Jephthah’s Daughter

And Jephthah made a vow to the Lord and said, If You will indeed give the Ammonites into my hand, Then whatever or whoever comes forth from the doors of my house to meet me when I return in peace from the Ammonites, it shall be the Lord“s, and I will offer it or him up as a burnt offering (Judges 11:30)

Hey Neighbor!

It’s been a big week for me! I’ve been very busy, but I have definitely been missing all of my friends here on the blog!!

Please be patient with me, I will be back in full force next week!

Once again, I have Your ‘Super- Faith-full’ female of the week, and she was: Jephthah’s Daughter!!

Again, Here is Sunday’s Riddle, Just in case you missed it:

*********************************************

Why was he saddened, though he returned home in peace

For there should have been joy and a celebratory feast

God had wrought victory for Israel, yet once again

He had no son to greet him, I was his nearest, next of kin

I heard no gladness in his voice, neither did I see a gleam in his eyes.

But Daddy looked dismayed, as if he wanted to cry

For he had opened his mouth, and was bound by a promise to keep

Had he envisioned a dog, a goat, or a sheep

I prayed he would permit me a month or two to tarry

To mourn and lament my prohibition to marry

Never would I know wedded love, nor romance

Since I played festive drums, with the song and the dance

*******************************************
Answer: Jephthah’s Daughter

Then Jephthah came to Mizpah to his home, and behold, his daughter came out to meet him with timbrels and with dances! And she was his only child; beside her he had neither son nor daughter. (Judges 11:34)

Check Yourself or Be Checked!! PART 2

Hey Neighbor!

If You have already read Part 1, You’ve probably caught on that I am using the word ‘judge’ synonymously with the word ‘check,’ as I am attempting to make the term a little more relevant to Our everyday lives.

In 1 Corinthians 11:31, Paul uses the word judge as he reminds us to ‘check’ ourselves:

-For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged. But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world-

And when we ‘check’ ourselves, we realize how much more we need Jesus and how much more We need His Holy Spirit to come and live inside of our hearts to convict Us of Our Sins and to Convince Us of Righteousness and to redeem our souls from condemnation.

Here’s PART 2 of Our Lesson:

*********

-And the LORD said to Samuel, Behold, I will do a thing in Israel, at which both the ears of every one that heareth it shall tingle. In that day I will perform against Eli all things which I have spoken concerning his house: when I begin, I will also make an end-
(1Samuel 3:11-12)

So there Samuel lay as the Lord came and stood, revealing to Samuel all the calamity that would soon befall Eli’s household. – Now I just love it when God says, “Behold, I am about to do a new thing!” I translate it like this…”Hey!! Check this Out!! Some things are about to change around here, so keep your eyes AND your ears opened!!

So…God goes on to tell Samuel that when He gets done…’doing His New Thing’…that BOTH of your ears are gonna tingle, along with everybody else that hears about what’s about to happen in Israel!!

God was Fed Up with Eli and his Two wicked son’s behavior in The Lord’s House…that’s the Church. Now God had already sent Eli a lengthy warning, by a different messenger, in Chapter 2, verses 27-36. So Pastor Eli had been previously ‘checked’ about what was going on in the church with his two Asscociate Ministers – Eli’s Sons, but Eli still refused to check himself and also refused to check his sons.

In Chapter 2, verses 24-25, the writer reveals more to us about Eli’s Pastoring style, as well as his lackadaisical parenting style. We learn that Eli was well aware of what was happening in the church. He had known of it, firsthand…and he had heard All the church gossip regarding Hophi and Phinehas- his two associate ministers. He knew that they were misusing the member’s offerings and Eli also knew that the boys were sleeping with the ‘Ushers’…amongst other things…and yet Eli idlely sat in his chair…beside a post of the church and did nothing about it!

Now, Remember that Eli was the High Priest and ‘THE’ Judge in Israel. It was his job to judge or ‘check’ the sin in Israel, and particularly to ‘check’ the sin within his own household – the Church- but since Eli refused to check and punish his own sons, God ‘checked’ them instead!

So Now…God was sending Samuel forth with a message of judgement upon Eli’s household…only this time, there was no grace period available…God was determined to put an end to the Sin in His House!

The Next Morning, when Samuel arose, he shared the vision with Eli, hiding nothing of it from him, and yet Eli, once again, seems to esteem the prophesy lightly. Look at how he responds to the death sentence upon his household in Chapter 3, verse 18. Eli says, “It is the Lord; let Him do what seems good to Him.”

WOW!!

So of Course…God did do what seemed fit in Chapter 4, verses 17-18. He purged Eli and both his sons from His tabernacle. Both Hophni and Phinehas were killed during a battle against the Philistines…both boys on the same day.

When Eli heard of all that had befallen his two sons, Eli fell off his seat backwards and broke his neck….I’ll bet both his ears were tingling before he hit the pavement. Lol!

Now The writer particularly mentions in verse 18 that Eli was old and heavy…and so this bit of information clues Us in as to what happened to Eli that day. Eli was sitting in his FAVORITE chair, as he did so often, when suddenly, the chair broke under his own weight.

Why do I say FAVORITE?…because of how often the writer mentions that Eli…the high Priest and Judge in Israel was sitting down on the job – instead of Doing God’s Work!

Even So, I’ve often wondered why the writer added this little fact about Eli’s weight upon his death…but it was actually revealed in Chapter 2, verse 29.

Remember that God had originally Warned Eli about how he had dishonored God by in turn, honoring his own sons before and above God…and so here the text tells Us just how Eli had managed to get so heavy.

It’s fairly evident that Eli had also been an active participant in fattening his own flesh on God’s offering…along with Hophni and Phinehas.

So is that why Eli had so long refrained from judging or ‘checking’ his boys??

Was it because Eli had received a longterm, personal benefit from his sons evil behavior in the church??

You Be The Judge!!…as You ALSO ‘Judge’ Yourself!!

Thanks For stopping By!!

And Remember…

God Loves You and So Do I!!

I came up here to be all alone,

When I spotted him resting upon Israel’s stone

I didn’t speak to him, it was he who spoke first

Though he expressed no resentment, and spoke not in anger

Why would he ask me to help meet his need

And how does he know all my actions and deeds??

He asked me to serve him, but instead he served me.

Check Yourself or Be Checked! Part I

-For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep. For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged. But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world- (1Cor 11:30)

 Hey Neighbor!

Here’s another ‘ Oldie’ blog for You from 2015!!

Enjoy🤩

******************************************

Today’s Lesson is a reminder that As Leaders in our homes, on Our jobs, in Our schools, and in Our churches, etc., we have a responsibility to Judge Ourselves or better yet to Check Ourselves or Be Checked by God!!

In Today’s Bible Story, We Meet the High Priest, Eli in 1 Samuel 2:12 and his Two wicked sons, Hophni and Phinehas who served as priests in the tabernacle at Shiloh.

Now Eli also Served as Israel’s Judge, however, he failed to judge or check himself and his boys, so eventually, God Checked Eli.

The Result was the death of Eli and both of his two son – all in one day…in addition to the eventual death of the Church at Shiloh.

Today, We Will begin Our Lesson with the introduction of Samuel, who was also like a son to Eli, into the priesthood at Shiloh.

(To Read More about Samuel’s Birth, Read the Lesson titled,’Bible Trivia Answer: Hannah’s Prayer.’)

Here is Part I of Our Lesson….

****************************************

Now, Samuel was only about 3 years old when he was weened by his mother, Hannah who had dedicated the boy to the Lord’s service in the Tabernacle at Shiloh, before the High Priest and Judge of Israel, Eli.

Now Eli was very old and had two adult sons of his own. These two sons were named Hophni and Phinehas and they were both worthless and wicked priests.

Verse 2:29 tells Us that they treated God’s sacrifices with contempt, as they greedily fattened themselves by taking the choicest portion of every offering from the offerer – by force.

Verse 2:12 tells us that although Hophni and Phinehas were priests in the church and ministered before the Lord, they did not ‘know’ or regard the Lord – but Young Samuel – who did not yet know the Lord, was both faith-full and obedient to the Lord and also to Eli.

Eli loved Samuel. He accepted Samuel into his home and raised him up in the priestly order.

In essence, Eli was blessed with another son…a son that would adhere to both God’s laws and to Eli’s instructions.

Samuel also loved Eli. He cared for his elderly, adopted dad and catered to his every need.

Whenever Eli called, Samuel came running! Chapter 3- Verse 4 tells Us about and evening when Samuel came running to Answer Eli’s Call, only to learn that it was not Eli calling Samuel…but God was calling Samuel.

It was shortly after both Eli and Samuel had retired for the night and had gone to bed, when Samuel heard his name, “Samuel!”

He hurried to Eli to see how he could help, but Eli sent him back to bed, telling the boy that he was mistaken, because he had not called for Samuel.

Again the young boy hears his name again, as he lies upon his bed, “Samuel!” So once again, he returns to Eli, only to be sent back to bed, because, again, Eli had not called the boy.

So after a third round of this, Eli finally perceives that it is The Lord Who is Calling Samuel, so Eli instructs Samuel to go back to bed a third time, but this time, with instructions. Eli instructs Samuel how to respond to Lord, telling him, if he hears the Voice calling his name again…answer like this:

‘Speak Lord, for Your servant is Listening.”

Now Verse 3:10 Tells Us when the Lord called Samuel the fourth time, He called Samuel’s name twice, “Samuel! Samuel!”

The Lord comes and stands before Samuel, as he is lying in his bed, So Finally, Samuel answers God… Just like Eli instructed him and God began to give Samuel an earful.

Can You imagine this Young boy lying there, probably terrified, afraid to look up at the Vision of the Lord standing about his bed…as he is getting a full download from God- and it was all about Eli and his two wicked sons.

How interesting that Verse 15 tells Us that Samuel laid there until Morning…I wouldn’t have moved a muscle until daybreak either and I’m pretty sure Samuel didn’t get his 40 winks that night! Lol!!

God was delivering a Message to Eli through the young prophet, Samuel.

God had previously checked Eli, putting him on Notice about His Son’s Behavior in the church, but Now God was Sending Forth Judgement. We will Discuss God’s Judgement of Eli’s Family in Part II.
