Trivia Tuesday – Name That Relative!!

– Then Joshua laid this oath on them, Cursed is the man before the Lord who rises up and rebuilds this city, Jericho. With the loss of his firstborn shall he lay its foundation, and with the loss of his youngest son shall he set up its gates. (Joshua 6:26)

Hey Neighbor!

In the Lead scripture above, we see where God’s Faith-full Servant, Joshua, prophesied a curse upon the family of the man (in the future) who would defiantly venture forth to rebuild the city of Jericho.

This curse was indeed executed upon this man’s relatives, more than 500 years later!!

This father lost his first son, while laying Jericho’s foundation, and he later lost his youngest son while setting up the gates to enclose the city.

Now, who was this exceptionally daring sinner/father, who ventured forth to rebuild this cursed city, in defiance to God’s spoken Word!!

Also, Can You Name this man’s two Sons, (Relatives) both the elder and the youngest, who both lost their lives, while rebuilding the Land of Jericho??

  1. 😂🤣oh man! When was the graduation? I know Evidence was. Senior and Pablo as well. Well you needed to graduate from Chal’s class as well as you tended to cause the other students to feel inadequate (not calling any names). 😂

  2. I will allow you two excused absences, permitting that you’ve been tied up for Jesus, and having remained in His prison of hope🤣😁
-Return to the stronghold [of security and prosperity], you prisoners of hope; even today do I declare that I will restore double your former prosperity to you. (Zech 9:12)

I’m not sure, Pedro…but from what I understand, Joshua’s oracle was well-known throughout Israel, and this was a period of great wickedness, idolatry, and rebellion against God, during Ahab and Jezebel’s reign in the northern kingdom, where Hiel lived in Bethel.

  4. 1 Kings 16:34
[34]In his days Hiel of Bethel built Jericho. He laid its foundation with Abiram his firstborn, and with his youngest son Segub he set up its gates, according to the word of the Lord, which He had spoken through Joshua the son of Nun.

  5. 1 Kings 16:34
In his days did Hiel the Bethelite build Jericho: he laid the foundation thereof in Abiram his firstborn, and set up the gates thereof in his youngest son Segub, according to the word of the LORD, which he spake by Joshua the son of Nun.

    Hiel: father
    Abiram, and Segub: sons

I always wondered if the man ever knew Joshua’s curse.

“In his days Hiel of Bethel built Jericho. He laid its foundation at the cost of Abiram his firstborn, and set up its gates at the cost of his youngest son Segub, according to the word of the Lord, which he spoke by Joshua the son of Nun.” 1 Kings‬ ‭16‬:‭34‬ ‭ESV‬‬

  7. SSSsssoooo, this is what we find it Joshua:6:26…
    “At that time Joshua pronounced this solemn oath: “Cursed before the Lord is the one who undertakes to rebuild this city, Jericho: “At the cost of his firstborn son he will lay its foundations;
at the cost of his youngest he will set up its gates.”
1 Kings 16:34 reveals the fulfilment, “In Ahab’s time, Hiel of Bethel rebuilt Jericho. He laid its foundations at the cost of his firstborn son Abiram, and he set up its gates at the cost of his youngest son Segub, in accordance with the word of the Lord spoken by Joshua son of Nun.”
God is faithful to His Word!!!
