Trivia Thursday- Name That Judahite-King!!

– But the Jebusites, the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the people of Judah could not drive out; so the Jebusites dwell with the people of Judah at Jerusalem to this day. (Joshua 15:63)

-But the Benjamites did not drive out the Jebusites who inhabited Jerusalem; the Jebusites dwell with the Benjamites in Jerusalem to this day. (Judges 1:21)

Hey Neighbor!

In the two scriptures above, we see that neither the Judahites, nor the Benjamites were able to completely drive the Jebusites from the ‘promised’ land, that was allotted to them via Joshua.

But Can you Name the ‘Judahite- King’ who did finally overcome these very inhabitants, who had willfully resisted God’s people, and remained as trespassers within their Promised Territory??

  1. Hey Sis! I am well!! I had to put some Mommy time in!! Both Hubie and Allie had the flu. Bless the Lord, Hubie’s came and went. Allie was in Chicago, so hers lingered. Then we had to get her home for her Symposium and her 21st B-day!!😥

  2. The “Judahite King”: David

“And David and all Israel went to Jerusalem, that is, Jebus, where the Jebusites were, the inhabitants of the land. The inhabitants of Jebus said to David, “You will not come in here.” Nevertheless, David took the stronghold of Zion, that is, the city of David. David said, “Whoever strikes the Jebusites first shall be chief and commander.” And Joab the son of Zeruiah went up first, so he became chief. And David lived in the stronghold; therefore it was called the city of David.” 1 Chronicles‬ ‭11‬:‭4‬-‭7‬ ‭ESV‬‬

  3. I’m not sure Anneta, but I do know that there was no love lost between this King and these inhabitants. In fact, Scripture tells us that this Judah-ite King hated’ many of these Jebusites.

  4. I have absolutely no idea. I just think he sounds like the man. I think I vaguely remember a bible story where they came up against him and he said, how comes when we allowed you to live among us for years? Something like that. 🤷‍♀️
