Now we are still in the Book of Genesis where we are spotlighting another āfaith-fullā female in the Bible who had been dealt a difficult hand in life, but she did not throw her cards in, nor did she give-up!!
She fought the Good Fight of Faith!!
Here is Todayās Super Faith Female:
Who is She??
**************************************
She was the first born daughter to her sheep herding father. Tradition was such that the first born daughter was to marry prior to the younger, but she was hindered – possibly because she was not a very beautiful girl.Ā Ā Her kinsmen took her to wife, but not by choice!!
He also took a second wife, who became her adversary. She was envied by her adversary – who was very beautiful, but she was barren!!
She tried in vain to win the love of her husband by bearing him many sons, but it wasnāt until after she yielded and learned to Praise God, that the Lord restored her position as the primary wife.
No!! – She had not been the preferred wife, but she was the wife who was chosen by God!!
The Lord caused her latter years to be better than her former. God nurtured her spiritual beauty and He blessed her – even in death- as her ashes lie beside her beloved husbandās in their burying place.

And He said, Hagar, Saraiās maid, where did you come from, and where are you intending to go? And she said, I am running away from my mistress Sarai. (Genesis 16:8)
Hey Neighbor!
Yesterday we unveiled our āFaith-fullā Female of the Week – Hagar.
First, I have to say thanks to Beverley, from her blog – āBecoming the Oil and the Wineā for submitting another correct answer to our Super Faith Sunday Challenge- where each week – we highlight 1 āfaith-fullā female from the Bible.
Beverley is 2 For 2!! šš
Thanks so much, Beverleyšššš
Now when we first meet Hagar she was simply an Egyptian servant girl, gifted to Abram in exchange for Sarai.
Now this is of course before God sent Abraham (father of a multitude) and Sarah (Princess) down to the Social Security Office to document their official name changes.𤣠(Genesis 17:5, 15)
You do Remember that God changed both of their names, but thatās a story for another dayā¦today we are focusing on Hagar, Abram, and Sarai!!
Now while Sarai and Abram were temporarily living in Egypt, Pharaoh had taken Sarai into his harem, convinced by Abram that Sarai was nothing more than his beloved sister!!
I know- Abram and Sarai were āextra,ā as the kids like to say!! š
I guess thatās why God changed their names – to settle those two down – Lol!
So Anyway, Letās try to stay focused on Hagar- She was a handmaid gifted to Abram in Egypt, as a sort of dowry from Pharoah to Abram, in exchange for Sarai joining his harem.
She (Hagar) accompanied Abram and Sarai and their caravan of sheep, oxen, he-donkeys, menservants, maidservants, she-donkeys, and camels departing from Egyptā¦After a plague-afflicted Pharaoh ran them both out of town for their ātall tales!ā- š¤ÆI will spill tea on this another dayš«
So at this point Abram remained childless, and Sarai remained barren.
But Sarai had a bright idea š”
She decided to give Abram her Egyptian Handmaid, Hagar to wife (secondary), in hopes that Hagar would conceive a child by Abram and thus, she would serve as a surrogate mother for Abramās son and heir.
This was not a God-Approved Idea!!
Well, Sarai didnāt have to exert too much effort in order to convince Abram to go along with her hair-brained scheme and before you know itā¦Hagar is pregnant!!
Now after Hagar conceived, as my mother wouldāve said, āSarai had gotten beside herself!ā
She looked down her nose at Sarai- forgetting her place- She was still just a servant and only a secondary wife, but Hagar was exalted in her own eyesight.
Now when Sarai complained to Abram- the two of them played the blame game for a while- Until a vengeful Sarai, once again takes matters into her own hands.
Now after being harshly afflicted by a āwrath-filled,ā overly-impassioned Sarai, Hagar runs as far as she can from home- hoping to run as far as Egypt!!
But no matter how far Hagar had attempted to run to get away from Sarai- She could not outrun God!!
God saw Hagar!!
And although she felt inclined to run from her mistress, in her self-exalted mindset, God had not approved of Hagarās misguided departure.
God spoke to Hagar, calling her, āSaraiās maid,ā Reminding her that for 10 years, she had been blessed and favored in Abramās household as a servant, until she permitted pride to overtake her.
The Angel of the Lord admonished her and encouraged Hagar to repent- and to turn away from Egypt, and the Godless, idolatrous lifestyle that she had once known and insteadā¦.now take up His yoke of humility and return to her husband Abram, and submit to her mistress, Sarai!
Trusting that He had seen her tears, and had heard her complaints about her mistress, if she would receive Him as her Lord, He would watch over her and give her a hope for the future and a prosperous outcome for her offspring.
See now, you are with child and shall bear a son, and shall call his name Ishmael [God hears], because the Lord has heard and paid attention to your affliction. (Genesis 16:11)
God had called Hagar out of Egypt for a purpose, and her future was pre-destined for Godās plans and purposes!!
Hagar Believed Godās spoken promise, taking hold of it as an undeserved gift!!
After she had returned to herself, Hagar realized how blessed she had been in Godās presence. The very same God, whom her husband Abram had worshipped daily, He had now seen and acknowledged her- showing His love and concern for her, a lowly Egyptian handmaid.
In recognition of her transformational encounter with God, Hagar memorialized the well of water where she had met The Angel of the Lord as, āBeer-lahai-roiā- A well to the Living One Who sees me (Genesis 16:14)

-So Abraham rose early in the morning and took bread and a bottle of water and gave them to Hagar, putting them on her shoulders, and he sent her and the youth away. And she wandered on [aimlessly] and lost her way in the wilderness of Beersheba- (Genesis 21:14)
Today is 3/22/2022 and I have Our Super Faith Sunday Challenge Answer:
Who is She??
Hagar
************* āWhat is Troubling You?ā
These are the words that Hagar heard from heaven after she had been thrown out⦠banishedā¦and abandonedā¦both her and her little boy⦠-from her husband, her home and all that she had become familiar with and accustomed to-
Her husband, Abraham, had put her away⦠Her son, Ishmael had been turned away by his father⦠It appeared that they were all aloneā¦and scripture tells us that Hagar and the young boy wandered in the wilderness, aimlessly.
Where would they Go?
What would they Do?
Who would open their doors to them and have mercy on this homeless mother and her fatherless child?
Hagar was hopeless and afraid!!
Abraham had sent her away with only bread and a bottle of water. He placed it upon her shoulders early that morning, before bidding her farewell.
She had been a āthorn in the sideā to Abraham and Sarahā¦stirring up strife in their marriage and stirring up jealousy in her son, towards his brother Isaac.
Sarah had finally reached her breaking pointā¦Demanding that this bondwoman and her son be cast out and away from her sight.
Abraham loved Ishmael and reluctantly acknowledged his wife, Sarahās request. It was only because God had spoken to Abrahamā¦confirming that he must do what Sarah had asked, that Abe grievously sent them away.
So as Hagar wandered aimlessly in the wilderness, with no real destination in mindā¦she lost her wayā¦and had run out of water.
How could she and her son survive or sustain themselves in the blistering conditions of the desert with no water and no refuge??
Hagar could see no hope in sightā¦as her eyes were likely, filled with tears and her head hung low in despairā¦But God saw Hagar and God loved both Hagar and Ishmaelā¦and showed them His mercy and His lovingness. He called out to Hagar from Heaven and He opened Her eyesā¦revealing a well of water.
She had nearly given upā¦having distanced herself from the boy and placing him under a shrubā¦fearing that he would be overcome from by the sun and the heatā¦Ishmaelās Mother could not bear to watch him wither away and die from dehydration.
Hagar treaded off and sat down in despair, away from Ishmael and raised up her voice and weptā¦as her young son also lifted up his voice and cried outā¦probably for his motherā¦Then God heard them both!!
God had not abandoned themā¦He was with Hagar and Ishmael and He quenched their thirstsā¦and spared their lives and fulfilled His promise to make Ishmael into a great nation.
-Then God opened her eyes and she saw a well of water; and she went and filled the [empty] bottle with water and caused the youth to drink. And God was with the youth, and he developed; and he dwelt in the wilderness and became an archer. He dwelt in the Wilderness of Paran; and his mother took a wife for him out of the land of Egypt- (Genesis 21:19-21)

Well this week our Trivia Thursday questions were fill in the blank.
Our Question was: Whoās Your Mom?
So we just filled in the correct name of the mother associated with her childās name (provided.)
The children listed were some of the sons and the 1 daughter of King David of Israel, who had a total of 8 wives.
When I was setting up the trivia question, adding up the numbers of wives and children, I noticed that Davidās first wife was not listed there in 1 Chronicles 3:1-9.
Now I am a King David fan, so I am very attentive to details when I am reading anything regarding David. And so, I remembered that David was married to one of King Saulās daughters.
After David killed Goliath, Saul promised his daughter to David in marriage. In fact, Saul promised his eldest daughter Merab, but defaulted on his initial promise to David and gave him Michal, his younger daughter to marry instead.
Michal was Davidās very first wife, but they did not have any children together – which is why she is not listed along with the other wives. She was not a mother to any of Davidās children. In fact, Michal remained childless throughout the entire marriage, even until her death.
Now Michal was initially an excellent wife to David. She loved David sorely -and even protected him from Saulās wrath, but David and Saul had a very difficult, love/hate relationship, and Michal was an unfortunate casualty of Saulās never-ending war with David.
I could go on and on, but I will spill Tea on both Saul and Michal at a later dateā¦š«
But For Today- I have Answers!!
Absalom and Tamar are the children of David andĀ Maacah.
Daniel is the son of David andĀ Abigail.
Amnon is the son of David andĀ Ahinoam.
Nathan is the son of David andĀ Bathsheba.
Adonijah is the son of David andĀ Haggith.
Shephatiah is the son of David andĀ Abital.
Ithream is the son of David andĀ Eglah.
BONUS******David had one more Wife. Her name wasĀ Michal. (1 Samuel 18:27)

Last Week we learned about a Daughter of a King named, Tamar. She was daughter to the King of Israel and her mother was named, Maacah.Ā
Maacah was one of King Davidās 8 (eight) wives, not to mention his many concubines. Maacah was a āprimary wifeā to David, and she was also the mother of Absalom, Tamarās older (full) brother.
In addition to Absalom, King David had 18 other sons, and Tamar was his only girl – for a total of 20 children.
Each of Davidās 20 children are listed by name in the book of Chronicles.
Unfortunately, none of the names of Davidās concubines/secondary wives are listed there – nor any children of the concubines.
But we do find the names of 7 (seven) of Davidās primary wives on this list- but for some reason, one of the wives (name) is missing from this list!!
Thus Todayās Trivia Challenge + BONUS!!
āWho Is Your Mom??ā
I have some of Davidās ānamedā children listed below- in no particular order; can you match the child with his/her Mom??
BONUSĀ +++++++Which of the wives is missing from this list??
There should be a total of 8 wives.

I have loved you, says the Lord. Yet you say, How and in what way have You loved us? Was not Esau Jacobās brother? says the Lord; yet I loved Jacob (Israel), But [in comparison with the degree of love I have for Jacob] I have hated Esau [Edom] and have laid waste his mountains, and his heritage I have given to the jackals of the wilderness (Malachi 1:2)
Hey Neighbor!Ā
Yesterday, We unveiled our āFaith-Fullā Female of the Week, Rebekah- Who learned during her ultrasound with God šš¤£ that she was pregnant with twin boys.
But Rebekah could not understand why the babies struggled so, and fought with one another in her womb. God told her that the two boys were fighting for the rights of the firstborn son- and contrary to the ordinary expectation-God had chosen her second born son, Jacob!!
You seeā¦God Loved Jacob, but He had rejected Esau!!
Rebekah believed These Words and Gladly Received them in her Heart!!
Now for those of you familiar with this story, You may have a few questions about Rebekah – such asā¦.
Did She really believe Godās Words??
If Rebekah had really believed, why did she grow so impatient with God, taking matters into her hands??
Why did she intervene herself into Godās work, and attempt to usurp His timing??
Good Questions!!
I also had some of my own questions while reading thisā¦I wondered;Ā
Was it Rebekahās intention all along for Jacob to obtain the rights of the firstborn son, by outwitting an older, stronger Esau – instead of waiting on God??
Is this why Rebekah named and called her second born son (Jacob) Trickster/Supplanter??
Who Knows??
But Letās Be Real About This!!
Which of Us believers, in our flesh, has not at some point decided that we were hired in by God, as His Personal Assistant- with a Job Description that read:
Candidate must be active and alert to assist God to meet His Project Deadlines!!
Abraham and Sarah had done this when they hired in the housemaid, Hagar to have a son (Ishmael) for them- instead of waiting on God!!
You see, as Godās assistant š¤£š Sarah was convinced that God was running late!! And in her old age, she feared that she and Abraham were running out of time!!
Well Rebekah also believed that Jacobās time was running short for him to acquire Isaacās blessing, because Isaac was now about 100 years old and had gone blind.Ā
Jacob had already successfully manipulated the birthright from Esauās hands, but without Isaacās blessing, Jacob still could not inherit the promised covenant, which was previously established between God and Abraham in Genesis 17.
And I will make thee exceeding fruitful, and I will make nations of thee, and kings shall come out of thee. And I will establish my covenant between me and thee and thy seed after thee in their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be a God unto thee, and to thy seed after thee. (Genesis 17:6-7)
You seeā¦Abraham, upon his deathbed blessed Issac, passing on this covenant to his son of āthe promise,ā Isaac- and not to Ishmael-Abrahamās son of the flesh!!
And now Isaac, possessing the established covenant, will now pass it forward, blessing only one of his two sons.Ā
Now God had promised Rebekah that the blessing was pre-established for Jacob, But her husband, Isaac would have it so that the blessing would be passed on to, and be established through Esau instead.
But Rebekah was not having it!!
You see Rebekah overheard Isaac call for Esau, requesting deer meat for his last meal,ā presuming that he, Isaac would soon be exiting from this world- and passing on to be with his own father, Abraham.
Isaacās Words to Esau:
Now therefore take, I pray thee, thy weapons, thy quiver and thy bow, and go out to the field, and take me some venison; And make me savory meat, such as I love, and bring it to me, that I may eat; that my soul may bless thee before I die (Genesis 27:3)
Can You See Rebekah Fuming š”, in response, saying underneath her breath:
satan!! You are a Liar and the Father of All Lies!!
But Not today – and Not in this Tent!!
So this is where an overzealous Rebekah takes matters into her own hand!!
What will Rebekah Do??
Well Neighbor, I will have to brew a whole new Pot of Tea for Us to finish this storyā¦
So come on by again this Friday- because tomorrow is Trivia Thursday and I have some really good questions prepared for you- plus a Bonus!!

And Esau said, Behold, I am at the point to die: and what profit shall this birthright do to me? And Jacob said, Swear to me this day; and he sware unto him: and he sold his birthright unto Jacob. Then Jacob gave Esau bread and pottage of lentils; and he did eat and drink, and rose up, and went his way: thus Esau despised his birthright (Gen 25:29-34)
Hey Neighbor!Ā
Itās Tuesday March 15, 2022 and Today I have Your Super Faith Sunday Answer!!
Our āFaith-Fullā Female of Week is Rebekah, Isaacās wife and Esau and Jacobās mother-
Or is it more correct to say;
Jacob and Esauās mother- I guess it depends on who was born first!!
Or does it??
If I told you a story about 2 contentious brothers who were in a race to win the rights of the first born son, would you believe that the younger brother who was a plain, ordinary, tent-dwelling Mommaās boy -Jacob
Would dominate and prevail against his older twin, who was of superb physical condition, a hunter, and an outdoorsman with great strength and agility- Esau
Well It did happen and itās True!!
In Genesis 25:29-34, Jacob did prevail against Esau by means of a bowl of beans- and a little bread!!
The story is right there on the page!!
And of all who would find themselves in shock or awe by this story, their mother would not!!
You see Rebekah had already had a talk with God about these two sons before they were born, because the race for the birthright began early on, during Rebekahās pregnancy.
The twin boys, Esau (Red) and Jacob (Trickster) fought and struggled with one another throughout her pregnancy, so much so, that she went to inquire of the Lord regarding the great contention within her womb.
What was Godās Response??
The Lord said to her, [The founders of] two nations are in your womb, and the separation of two peoples has begun in your body; the one people shall be stronger than the other, and the elder shall serve the younger. (Gen 25:23)
Who knew that God performed the first ultrasound- Lol!!!š¤£š
God told Rachel that she was carrying two nations inside her belly- one stronger than the other, but the younger, weaker one would outpace and overtake the stronger.
Iām sure this answer sounded much like foolishness in the ears and mind of Rebekah, but like Mary- the Mother of Jesus- Rebekah weighed and pondered these things in her heart until she accepted and believed Godās Word as Truth!!Ā
When it came time for Rebekah to deliver, she anticipated the birth of her twins, yet more eagerly, she awaiting the birth of her second son. He was the son that God Loved, and therefore Rebekah loved Jacob also!!
Now Esau was also loved, only more so, by his Father Isaac.
Yes! Esau was Isaacās Favorite son andā¦
Yes! Jacob was Rebeccaās Favorite son andā¦
Yes! We did learn that parents openly expressing favoritism amongst siblings is a very bad idea- as weāve witnessed with Jacob and his 12 sons.
But Rebekah could not help herself, she had prayed to God, waited on God, and agreed with Godās plan for her son, Jacob.Ā
After all she had no ill will towards her son, Esau – nor any expectation for anything adverse to come upon himā¦but Esau was not the son chosen by God!!
You see, Rebekah believed that Jacob was the Chosen son, anointed of Godās Promise- not Esau!!
As was her husband, Isaac who was the Son of Godās Promise to Abraham- not Ishmael!!
You see, only one of Rebekahās sons would win the race to now receive Isaacās blessing!
Esau had already won the first leg of the race in the delivery room, coming in first place with Jacob- a close second at -his heels!!Ā šĀ
A reinvigorated Jacob, was able to win the second race, at the dinner table, when he acquired the birthright from an excessively fatigued and exhausted Esau!!
But now Rachel is bound and determined to push Jacob past the finish line to the Final, BY ANY MEANS NECESSARY, so that He might obtain his fatherās blessing and ultimately, receive The Blessing of his Father, God!!
I love the Book of Genesis!!šš
I have so much more to share with you about Rebekahās Faith, and also her Failures- but letās pause here today and convene tomorrow and weāll have a little more tea!!Ā
No worries- It wonāt be too hot š„µ

Itās Super Faith Sunday, where we feature Our āFemale of the Weekā from the Bible.Ā
Although We didnāt share a Super Faith Challenge Last Sunday, We did feature the stories of two Young Ladies from the Book of Genesis; Dinah and Tamar
Their stories were tragic and they quickly disappeared from the story, but God had placed them there on the pages, so that their names would never disappear from our hearts. Bible readers throughout history and time have read and will continue to read their stories and Remember the names: Dinah and Tamar!!
Weāre still in the Book of Genesis, with a few more ladies to acknowledge. Again we want to give them their flowers, while weāre here with them, in their Book and Chapter.
Remember Our Super Faith Female may not have possessed extraordinary physical strength, but she could pin you to the mat in a round of Faith!!Ā
She refused to give up!!Ā Ā
She tightly grasped onto Godās Promises and Pressed on to the very end!!
She Fought the Good Fight of Faith!!Ā
Here is Our Super Faith Female- Who is She??

She had been barren for 20 years of their marriage, but after much prayer, God blessed her with not 1 but 2 sons who contended with one another. She brought her issues before God and believed His message – that her weaker son would champion the stronger. She refused to accept anything less for him- pressing forward on his behalf until the very last day that she saw her beloved son.

And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel (Gen 3:15)
Hey Neighbor!
Today is the unveiling of our Trivia Thursday Answer to: āThe Kingās Daughter.ā
Beverley from the Blog, āBecoming the Oil and the Wineā submitted her correct Answer this week.
She also commented on this sad story, reminding Us that there are many lessons that can be learned through both Tamarās tragedy, as well as Dinahās.
Thanks Beverleyššš
***********************************
Todayās featured daughter was named Tamar– not Judahās Daughter-in-law – Tamar.
Yes! These two women share the same name.
Yes! She may even be a ānamesake,ā but she is no Canaanite.
She is born of the Tribe of Judah, a son of Jacob, and she is the baby girl to King David of Israel.
Now Very Much like Jacob, David had several wives and concubines (secondary wives) and therefore he had many children with multiple mothers.
Amongst them were, Tamar and her older (full) brother, Absalom. They were both children born to David, and their mother was named Maaccah.
Now the eldest brother, who was heir to the throne, and the first born son of David was Amnon. His mother was named, Ahinoam.
There are several more wives and children of Davidās to list from 1 Chronicles 3:1-9, but these are the most critical names that we will need to recognize, as we look into this tragic and incestuous tale.
Now prince Amnon had fallen ālovesickā for his half-sister Tamar. So we know pretty early on that this young man already has some serious āissues.ā
But he kept his feelings toward Tamar hidden.Ā Ā The only person Amnon shared his secret with was the āvery subtil,ā Jonadab.Ā
-Now the serpent was more āsubtilā than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden? (Gen 3:1)
Keep that in Mind!! š§
Now Jonadab is actually Amnonās first cousin- The son of Davidās brother- but here, he is described as a friend to Amnon, which reminds us, We should be very careful who We call āfriend!ā
But Jonadab is no friend, He is All foe, and the voice of the serpent speaks through him!!
Yes! Itās the serpent, now raising his ugly head from within King Davidās household. He had previously slithered into the garden to beguile Eve and now he has slithered into Amnonās house to beguile and defile Tamar.Ā
Jonadab uses his crafty words, expressing false concern for Amnon, inquiring about his loss of appetite and his leanness, reminding him that he is the heir to the throne- Why should he be denied anything or anyone??
-including his sister, Tamar.
Satan had already prepared the ground, feeding Amnonās incestuous lust for his sister, now he plants the seed of deception, advising him to use trickery to draw Tamar into his bedroom, all alone.
The seed takes root and Amnon feigns illness, using his leanness to appear sickly. David of course, becomes concerned about Amonās health and appearance and unwittingly sends to him Tamar- at Amnonās request.
We know that this story does not end well for Tamar- nor does it end well for Amnon, but satan, once again has prevailed in the Kingās Home!!
He had slithered into the House of David, biting his children, and thus resulting in terrible desolation and death amongst his children and the women in his home.
Now this woman, Young Tamar was satanās original target here- as was Eve in the garden. He had slithered in to isolate, deceive, and to victimize the weaker sex. He also used this same strategy or M.O.- modus operandi against Dinah.
Remember, Dinah was āall aloneā when she was violated by Shechem.
Eve was āall aloneā when she was beguiled by satan.
And Tamar was āall aloneā when she was defiled by Amnon, which resulted in a lifetime of despair and desolation for this virtuous daughter of King David.
Unfortunately, the serpent is still loosed within Davidās house, and we will soon witness the treacherous bite and the fall of the Kingās younger son, Absalom.
Absalom will go on to seek his brotherās blood in vengeance. He will wait for David to administer justice for his sister Tamar, but when David fails to act, Absalom will take matters into his own hands and thus fall captive to satanās trickery as well.Ā
We Praise God for Jesus, Our King and Savior who came to Save the Sinner and Set the Captives of Satan Free!!Ā
Remember Neighbor, there were also serpents in the wilderness, biting Godās people resulting in death and despair, but God told Moses to make a serpent of brass, and place it upon a pole, and those who were bitten could look upon the brazen serpent and live!! (Numbers 21:8-9)
Thatās the representation of our Lord and Savior, Jesus upon the Cross!!
Unfortunately today, the fiery serpents still slither within our camp, as sin is still ever present in our flesh, but when We look to Jesus, Receiving Him as Our Saviour, and Repenting of Our Sins, Our bounds are loosed and the chains are broken!!
Donāt Forget Neighbor, We Still Have the Victory in Jesus!!
Revelation 20:12 tells Us that Jesus has already prevailed against that serpent of old and in the end- We Win!!
-And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years (Revelation 20:2)
Amen And Amen!!
