The ‘We-Stories’ Remain in Our Hearts!!

–And the [threshing] floors shall be full of grain and the vats shall overflow with juice [of the grape] and oil. And I will restore or replace for you the years that the locust has eaten–the hopping locust, the stripping locust, and and the crawling locust, My great army which I sent among you.-
(Joel 2:24-25)

image

Hey Neighbor!

Pictured above, is a photo of my brother Tony, and Yours truly.

Tony had just graduated from basic training and our entire family drove up to Chicago to celebrate and support him.

It was another great day to add to our ‘We-stories.’

What is a ‘We- story?’

Well, I tend to create words sometimes, if you haven’t caught on to that yet!!šŸ˜‚

Let me try to break it down…

Well, first of all, it’s a plural ‘made-up’ word…not like your singular ‘His-story’ or ‘Her-story.’

And Tony and I had tons of we-stories, because he and I were really close, as kids!! We weren’t allowed to play with the neighbors’ kids, so We were each other’s playmate.

We played, fought, and made-up and played and fought…and so on…It was greatšŸ’•

So, when the Lord showed me that Tony and I had those precious ‘we-stories,’ together, from our childhood…and that they could never be taken away, because they would forever remain in my heart…I decided to share it…

Hopefully this story will help someone who is mourning or grieving, due to the separation from, and the difficult loss of their loved-one.

Here is another ‘oldie’ about Tony, and myself…from March 2015.

******************************************

First, I want to say ThankYou!!…for Your Prayers and Condolences.

Losing my Brother has certainly been different than losing my Dad 14 years ago.

I didn’t realize how much of my own identity was wrapped up in being Tony’s ‘little sister.’ I think I lost a little bit of Myself…in loosing him.

Don’t get me wrong…I know that My identity in Christ has not changed…

I am still going to heaven- but ONLY- because Jesus died for Me, and for My brother…saving Our sin-sick Souls.

I will just have to wait until I see my brother, and childhood friend again…in heaven, in order to laugh with him and discuss another…

Hey! Do you Remember when ‘WE……Story.’

And Yes!!

Our ‘WE…Stories’ remain alive, in my heart…but the other participant…the other half of my ‘WE’ Story is gone…and because nobody else was there…together with Us…in that moment…No other person in this world, will ever be personally acquainted with our ‘We…Stories.’

Wow!! Tony and I lost so much time, walking in unforgivenessā€¼ļø

How is it that we can spend so much of Our lives ‘mad’ at Somebody…for whatever reason…

Remembering everything that He/She did to Offend Us.

We willingly, get into agreement with satan and find ourselves open to any and all of his reasonings, theories, and justifications for continuing that feud…and for adding fuel to that fire!!

And yet when that person has passed on…Suddenly, it’s the sweet ‘We…stories’ that fuel us…and bring us peace, as we begin to move forward in life, without them.

I can only praise God, because He begins to soften Our cold, hardened hearts…

And He begins to fill that space left vacant, by the One who has passed on…

With the sweet memories that We once shared with Our Loved Ones.

God begins to negate all of those sad, cold, and painful Years…lost in Bitterness…With His Glorious Grace and His Marvelous Mercies!!

Our God is So Amazing!!

Thanks For Stopping By, Neighbor!!

God Loves You and So Do I!!

Trivia Tuesday – Name That Thirty (30) Year Old!!

Take a census of the Kohathite division among the sons of Levi, by their families, by their fathersā€œ houses, From thirty years old and up to fifty years old, all who can enter the service to do the work in the Tent of Meeting…(Num 4:2-33)

Hey Neighbor!

What was so significant about the age of 30, in the Bible??

In the scripture above, we see where the sons of Levi (Kohathites, Gershonites, and the Merarites) were deemed ā€˜ready’ for the warfare of the Lord’s Service at the age of 30.

But can you name at least three (3) more 30 year olds from the Bible, who God deemed ready to wrestle (spiritually) in the service of The Kingdom of God, after having reached this ā€˜milestone’ birthday??

One of these is exceptionally easy!!

Can You Name These (3) Thirty Year Olds??

Nuggets of Wealth For Life and Health – Deep Conditioning For Dry, Cracked Feet!!

Your Health Must Matter Most To You!!

He will guard the feet of His godly ones, but the wicked shall be silenced and perish in darkness; for by strength shall no man prevail.  (1Samuel 2:9)

*****************************************

Hey Neighbor!

This Week’s Nugget will hopefully help those of you, who are sick of suffering with dry, cracked šŸ‘£****************************************

I am so glad that Spring 🌹is in the air!

We had a few days of spring-like weather last week, and I found myself out in the garden – just as BarefootšŸ¦¶šŸ¾and I was Quite Contented!!😌

I love to run around outside without shoes and/or sandals when the weather is nice; but this actually drives my husband nuts!!

He is always saying…

Girl, You better put on some shoes out hereā€¼ļø

But my feet were Fed-up from FallšŸšŸ‚

And Wearied with WinteršŸ„¶ā„ļø

No more Socks 🧦 and Boots šŸ‘¢ for Meā€¼ļø

My feet were Crying out for FreedomšŸ—½

In fact, just a few weeks prior, my feet were so dry, that they had begun to crack.

My regular arsenal of remedies together, were not resolving the problem; but then I remembered that I had taken some of my dried-out Rosemary (stems included) along with some Oregano leaves, and I had stuffed them down into my bottle of extra-virgin olive oil, with intentions to use the mix for a deep-conditioning hair treatment.

What’s good for the hair, was even better for my feetā€¼ļø

My feet were in desperate need for deep-conditioning, so I lathered the oil onto my clean and dried feet, slapped on some socks for insulation, and I went to bed…repeated…And after a couple of nights, my feet šŸ‘£were back to soft and supple, once again…

And I was a Happy Girl with Happy Feetā€¼ļø

You ought to try this!!

****************************************

Once Again…I am not a doctor, nor do I play one on TV!!

So Ultimately, You must do your own research, and talk with your physician to make the best health choices for yourself and your family.

Quit Looking and Start Leaning on The Holy Spirit- Part 1

Hey Neighbor!

It’s Another Flashback Friday!!

Today’s Oldie is from 2015, back when I realized that God wanted to extend his helping hand into every area of my life. The Holy Spirit gave me a fresh opportunity to try Him out…and Yes!! – He showed and proved that He was ‘Faith-full’ to fulfill every Promise!!

*************************************

Casting the whole of your care [all your anxieties, all your worries, all your concerns, once and for all] on Him, for He cares for you affectionately and cares about you watchfully-
(1Peter 5:7)

**************************************

Yesterday, in Our Bible Study at the Center, We talked about giving All of OUR stuff to Jesus…ALL of Our issues, whether Great or small.

That’s – ALL of our Anxieties, ALL of Our Worries…ALL of Our Cares and Concerns.

Once…and For ALL!!

I told the class a story about how I have a special agreement with the Holy Spirit, Who helps me find ALL of my stuff, after I’ve misplaced it!!

Here’s Part 1 of My Story….

The Holy Spirit and I started this thing together, after I had misplaced a train ticket that I had purchased for my Aunt JoAnn, who was coming to visit me from California.

Well, Customer Service had mailed the train ticket to my house, in Illinois, instead of mailing it to my Aunt in Cali…so I held on to it…and I set it aside…and I lost it.

Uh-Oh!!

Now When my Aunt called me, asking me to mail the train ticket to her in California, I had absolutely no idea where it was. I couldn’t tell her that I had lost it, she would lose her mind!!

So I avoided her call…while I searched through everything for several days…but I Still couldn’t find it!!

Finally, I threw up my hands and I sat down and I cried to the Lord, Telling Him how I had looked everywhere, and how frustrated I was…and how I just didn’t know what else to do.

Then I heard the Holy Spirit whisper,
“Ask Me.”

Huh?? I thought…Ask the Holy Spirit to help me find something that I misplaced??
That doesn’t make any sense!!

Then, He gave me this scripture:

But the Comforter (Counselor, Helper, Intercessor, Advocate, Strengthener, Standby), the Holy Spirit, Whom the Father will send in My name [in My place, to represent Me and act on My behalf], He will teach you all things. And He will cause you to recall (will remind you of, bring to your remembrance) everything I have told you-
(John 14:26)

I thought, Wow!!….He does bring All things to Our remembrance…That is one of His many, Jobs!!

Then, I thought…That’s just too easy!!

Then, I remembered this scripture:

For My yoke is wholesome (useful, good–not harsh, hard, sharp, or pressing, but comfortable, gracious, and pleasant), and My burden is light and easy to be borne-
(Mat 11:30)

So I did it…I asked Him, “Holy Spirit, Please help me to find My Aunt JoAnn’s ticket.”

I didn’t get an immediate response, but I decided that since this whole ‘ask Me for help thing’ was His idea…I was just going to Try Him out!!

So during that week, while I waited to hear from Him, I kinda expected to hear Him whisper to me, saying something like, “Look in the Glove Compartment!” Or “Look under the Desk.”

But Nothing…No Word….Until He reminded me that I had unconsciously, restarted my search.

I was out in the car looking in the glove compartment…

I was on my knees, looking under that desk…When I heard Him Say…

“Are YOU Going to find it…Or Are You Going to Trust Me to Show YOU?”

So I agreed, AGAIN, that I would give up my independent search…Once and for ALL!!

Although it was really hard to relinquish dependence upon myself, and to not continue my search, using my own effort and power to locate the ticket, I had to stop looking…while I was learning to lean on Him.

I had to refocus my attention on the Goodness of God and ALL the things that He had brought me through, thus far!!

I had to go on with my day, as usual, without continuing to worry and stress about that ticket.

You see…He was teaching Me how to REST in His perfect peacefulness…while I committed the WORK to Him.

My job was to Wait Confidently, and to FULLY, and Completely, rely on Him!!

You will guard him and keep him in perfect and constant peace whose mind [both its inclination and its character is stayed on You, because he commits himself to You, leans on You, and hopes confidently in You.-
(Isaiah 26:3)

Well…That’s It for Part 1!!

So Join Me Again, Tomorrow, to hear God’s ‘Amazing’ End to This Story!!

Remember…We Are going to be Amazed at God, Together, in 2015!!

Until Tomorrow,

God Loves You and So Do I!!

New Year…New Start – WITH God’s Grace!!

-Each time he said, ā€œMy grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.ā€ So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me-
(2 Corinthians 12:9)

Hey Neighbor!

The world tells us that by March 15th, most folks have given up, and/or have gotten off track with their New Year’s Resolutions; but that’s not what scripture says!!

God tells us His mercies are new…EVERY MORNING!! (Lamentations 3:22)

So each day He wakes us up…whether that day be January 1st or March 16th…we get a fresh and new start with God!!

Here’s Friday’s Oldie!!

Enjoy🤩

*****************************************

Okay, It’s the New Year and I was afraid to step on the scale, but I did and I must boast and confess…that I have gained 7 lbs in my weakness…and I’m not happy about it!!

No Blame Game For Me…It’s All My Fault!!

I would normally blame my husband, Dewitt, because he is naturally thin…and can eat all night…and not gain a pound!!

He brings the tempting foods into the bedroom to eat…and eats them in the bed…after 8 pm; but it’s my fault when I decide to lay there and feed my face right along with him!!

Of Course, He’s still slim and trim…but I WILL have to ‘Work-Out.’

Our Exercise Class, at the Center, has been on a holiday hiatus, so I am looking forward to restarting our exercise routine Next Week.

We have exercise class on Wednesday and Friday nights…we do a walking routine, equivalent to 2-3 miles.

Afterwards, we usually have a healthy salad…that is unless Uncle Bob is cooking up one of his fantastically, fattening dishes…in his huge pot!!

Is that Blame??…Lol.

So Anyway…I am excited about this New Year…and I’m excited about My New Start…WITH God’s Grace!!

You know what else I’m excited about??

I’m Excited about Jesus!!

Because EVERYDAY…We Get a New Start WITH God!!

-It is because of the Lord’s mercy and loving-kindness that we are not consumed, because His [tender] compassions fail not. They are new every morning; great and abundant is Your stability and faithfulness- (Lamentations 3:22)

God’s mercy…His Lovingkindness…and His compassion for Us is ‘New’ EVERYDAY!!

So…When God blesses us with a ‘New’ Morning…We get a New Start!!

We can Go to Our Father, asking for His mercies, like David in Psalm 51, after he had sinned with Bathsheba…

-HAVE MERCY upon me, O God, according to Your steadfast love; according to the multitude of Your tender mercy and loving-kindness blot out my transgressions-
(Psalms 51:1)

Two things to notice, in both scriptures…David says God’s ‘tender’ mercy is multitudinous…

And (in Lamentations also above), Jeremiah says…God’s ‘tender’ compassions never Fail Us!!

So both writers, use the word ‘tender’ to describe these qualities of God…

‘Tender’ means to show gentleness or concern.

So every morning…God is concerned about Us…waiting for Us to come to Him in prayer…ready to show Us His gentle mercy and compassion, because He understands that We have ‘Faith-failures’ and that We sometimes, succumb to the devil’s temptations…and get tripped up…by sin.

But God IS ‘Faith-Full’ and He understands that in Our Flesh, We are ‘Un-faith-full’…and Without His mercy…and His lovingkindness…We would be consumed by Our sins!!

And…Just as God renewed David (in Psalms 51:7)…

He WILL Renew Us!!

He WILL wash away ALL of Our sins, making Us whiter than snow!!

Making Us Feel ‘Brand-New!!’ Lol

Then…He gives Us His Grace…His free gift that stabilizes Us and empowers Us to walk in His ‘Faith-fullness.’

So Each New Morning of 2015…in this New Year…

We Can Go to God And Ask for…
‘New’ Compassion and ‘New’ Mercies…
For A ‘New’ Start in Him!!

So You…can stop moping and whining…because You’re All ‘Jacked-Up!’

WE ALL ARE!!…without JESUS!!

So this year, when We find that…WITHOUT God, We are not able to stick to that new diet…

Or…

WITHOUT God…We are not faithful to maintain Our new fitness plan…

Remember…

We can ask God for His Grace…
To Start Again…and to accomplish Our Goals..and to accomplish…ALL THINGS!!

-I have strength for all things in Christ Who empowers me [I am ready for anything and equal to anything through Him Who infuses inner strength into me; I am self-sufficient in Christ’s sufficiency-
(Philippians 4:13)

What New Starts WILL You Make in 2015…WITH God’s Grace??

I WILL Help Keep You Accountable…Lol!!

Nuggets of Wealth for Life and Health – Marital Love and Abundant Joy!!

However, let each man of you [without exception] love his wife as [being in a sense] his very own self; and let the wife see that she respects and reverences her husband [that she notices him, regards him, honors him, prefers him, venerates, and esteems him; and that she defers to him, praises him, and loves and admires him exceedingly]. (Ephesians 5:33)

Hey Neighbor!

The Weary’s and The Dailey’s

From the photo above, you get just a tiny glimpse of the good-time we had last night, on Valentine’s DayšŸ’

Kim and I were scheduled to present our first 30 Pieces of Silver presentation for 2023, and since it was Valentine’s Day, we decided to include our very silly husbands and do a double-date and share dinner afterwards.

We really had a great time from start to finish!!

We talked about the Marital Troubles that Abraham and Sarah underwent, and how they grew closer together over time, after having overcome a multitude of relationship hurdles; and before they were finally able to peacefully enjoy the Laughter and Love in their Marriage!!

https://m.facebook.com/100064591063408/videos/

If you have about 35 mins, pour yourself a glass of ice teašŸ§‹and enjoy the lesson. But don’t forget the popcorn šŸæbecause these two husbands here, are truly 2 goof-ballsā€¼ļøšŸ˜

Enjoy🤩

Holy Spirit =Your ā€˜Tag-Team’ Partner!!

-But when the Comforter (Counselor, Helper, Advocate, Intercessor, Strengthener, Standby) comes, Whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of Truth Who comes (proceeds) from the Father, He [Himself] will testify regarding Me- (John 15:26)

Hey Neighbor!

Here’s another ‘Blast from the Past’ for you!!

This one was written in January 2017 and it’s just perfect for those of you who have made New Year’s Resolutions and are currently in a Loosing Battle!

So, My advise to you is this:

TAG-IN The Holy Spirit!!

He Wants to help you win this Fight!!

I Hope this Helps!!…….

***************************************

I’m doing my best to start this year off right, but it has not been any fun. I was ill for several months in the latter part of 2016 and so my Acupuncturists suspected that I may have a wheat/gluten sensitivity and recommended that I modify my diet, by eliminating those food products from my diet for about 30 days and see if I start to feel better.

We’ll, as of Day 4, I am already feeling much better…that is after I eliminated coffee from my diet, AGAIN!!

I bought my husband the cool new Ninja coffee maker for Christmas and I thought I was a regular brewista, for a few days there. I had been making my husband a caffeinated cup and then I made a decaf for myself, but I just wasn’t able to digest it very well, so I made the difficult decision of adding my tasty morning coffee treat to the dreaded Elimination List...along with sugar!!😩

Well, Although my ears still feel full, and they’re still bugging me in the evening, making it difficult to sleep, I haven’t experienced any dizziness or lightheadedness and my blood pressure has been great…120/80 and lower!!

YAY!! Praise God for His Holy Spirit, as He is my most necessary helper, empowering me to get through these difficult days…teaching me what foods are tolerable for me and giving me the willpower to resist those that aren’t.

What are You planning to eliminate from your diet, or lifestyle for a healthier, happier life??

Is it a trigger food…like my delicious coffee or a longstanding habit like smoking, or maybe your goal is to just drop a few pounds…someone might even want to ‘eliminate’ an individual from your life who has been dragging you down…

Well, whatever the case may be, You are definitely going to need the The Holy Spirit to get You through this thing.

Remember He is Our ā€˜Tag-Team’ Partner in this thing called Life.

He’s there…just outside the ring of Your Soul, with His arms stretched out over the ropes waiting for You to realize that You cannot win this thing all alone.

Can’t you hear him??…cheering you on, and also reminding you that He wants to help!!

He says:

Hey!

Don’t forget Me!!

I’m Your Comforter…ready to bandage you up when life has knocked you around!!

Your counselor…when you need advice!!

Your Helper… cause you can’t do it all by yourself!!

Your Advocate… when you need someone to speak for you!!

Your Intercessor…because I’m praying for You, and seeking Out God’s will for your life!!

Your Strengthener…there to encourage you when your faith falls short!!

Your Standyby…and I’m tired of standing by over here on the other side of this ring!!

Would You Please Tag Me In!!

I Got You and We are definitely going to make it through this thing together!!

Remember,

In the End…We Win!!

Thanks For Stopping By…Until We Meet Again,

God Loves You and So Do I!!

Nuggets of Wealth For Life and Health – Probiotic Rich, Fermented Pickles!!

Hey Neighbor!

Your Health Must Matter Most To You!!

After I posted my fermented tomatoes recipe, My blogger buddy, Wenda http://wendaswindow.wordpress.com/ asked me what I was going to do with my cucumbers, so I decided to share my fermented pickles recipe.

Much like my fermented tomatoes, these are also very rich in probiotics, so they are great for digestion!!

Here is a link to my Fermented tomatoes Recipe, just in case you missed it!!

https://carenrcinesl.wordpress.com/2022/10/05/nuggets-of-wealth-for-life-and-health-probiotic-rich-fermented-tomatoes/

Last year was was my first attempt at growing cucumbers. I bought 2 vines, added some chicken poop and seaweed for fertilizer, and those things were growing everywhere!!

It was crazy!!

I had cucumbers growing up the side of my deck, and one of the more aggressive vines even tried to attach itself to a tree and then begin to grow up there.

My husband kept cutting them and bringing them in, so I went pickling crazy!!

Needless to say, I still have pickles in my basement refrigerator leftover from last year, so I did not actually plant any cucumbers this year…but I still stumbled upon some volunteer cucumbers hidden in a patch…and who knew cucumber vines were so prickly and itchy!!šŸ‘€

Now the first thing to do is to wash them well and be sure to scrub off all those prickly things, then slice off both of the end tips.

I like to half mine and then quarter them into spears.

Now, You can use whatever variation of fresh herbs and seasonings that you like, but the most critical ingredient you will need, is either a black tea bag or a few basil leaves to maintain crispness!!

Here are my ingredients!!

1 Tea bag and or (2-3) bay leaves (for crispy pickles)
2 tablespoons of Real Salt, Himalayan, or Sea Salt (no iodized table salt)
Turmeric
Mustard seed (yellow or brown)
Sliced Onions
Fresh dill
Fresh Ginger
Fresh Garlic (diced, if you like them garlicky)
Pickling spice
Celery seed
Black peppercorns (add red pepper🌶 flakes, if you like your pickles spicy) 🄵

Now, you will want to place your black tea bag into the bottom of your clean mason jar. If you option to use green tea, add 2 green tea bags.

Arrange your spears into your jar first…I like to make layers, so that my jar looks pretty when I’m done. Sometimes, I find that lying my jar on its’ side helps with the arranging.

Now, after all of your ingredients are packed in tightly, pour in your non chlorinated water…filtered or spring water is best.

Fill your jar, as to cover all of your ingredients and then you can weigh them all down with a glass weight. (or a couple of shot glasses)

This will help to insure that all of your ingredients remain underneath the brine…otherwise they could mold.

If you don’t have a glass weight, a nice bunch of fresh dill can be used to help keep the cucumbers from floating up!!

Once again, you will seal your container or twist on your plastic or clean metal canning lid and, please remember to burp your contents daily for the next 2-3 days.

Be mindful of placement…you want to find a countertop area, away from direct heat and/or sunlight. And preferably, your kitchen temp is between 68-72 degrees.

You should start to see bubbles rising inside of your jar after a couple of days….This is a good thing, that means fermentation is happening.

The good bacteria is beginning to eat the sugars from your cucumbers, and are now producing CO2, so once again, don’t forget to release these gasses (or burp) your jar once/day….otherwise…boomšŸ¤ÆšŸ’„

After 2-4 days, try your pickles with a clean fork. If you like them, remove your glass weights and refrigerate them and enjoy.

If you prefer your pickles with a little sweetness, then sweeten them before your refrigerate them. I prefer unbleached organic sugar, but I have also sweetened them with honey as well.

Your pickles will continue to ferment inside of your refrigerator, but at a much slower rate!!

Your fermented pickles are not shelf stable and will begin to grow mold if you fail to refrigerate them after several days.

How to eat them??

You can add them to your salads, slice them and add them to your sandwiches and/or pour your brine into your soups and/or broths.

I even add my pickle juice to my spaghetti saucešŸ˜‹.

If you have other fermenting or pickling ideas, let me know!!

Thanks For Stopping By!!

Solution Saturday Answer: The Widow of Nain!!

– And when the Lord saw her, He had compassion on her and said to her, Do not weep. And He went forward and touched the funeral bier, and the pallbearers stood still. And He said, Young man, I say to you, arise [from death (Luke 7:13)

Hey Neighbor!

This week, our CareBibleStudy class searched through the Bible for a certain bloody relative, who fled for his life, from King Solomon, and took hold of the horns of the altar (Exodus 21:14) for protection…that was on Tuesday!!

And on Thursday, we searched for the best financier in the Bible!!

And of Course, we studied to solve our ā€˜Super-Faith’ Sunday Riddle, and we identified this super-faith-full female as:

The Widow of Nain: [Just] as He drew near the gate of the town, behold, a man who had died was being carried out–the only son of his mother, and she was a widow; and a large gathering from the town was accompanying her. (Luke 7:12)

Once Again, Here is Your Super-Faith Sunday Riddle and Our Riddle Solvers:

********************************************

I had become his nurse, when I found him unwell

At his bedside with tinctures and herbs, I did dwell

I prayed without ceasing; a worried mom, deprived of sleep

When I heard his last breath, How I mourned…How I weeped…

With no mainstay of support, in the fields, will I glean

When my dear one departed, I had no spouse onto lean

But I found the Lord’s mercy at the lamenting procession

Just in time, he had come and revealed his compassion

Just one touch from Jesus; That’s all it took

This story is told in the wise Doctor’s book

Trivia Tuesday- Name That King!!

-While there was war between the houses of Saul and David, Abner was making himself strong in the house of Saul. Now Saul had a concubine whose name was Rizpah, daughter of Aiah. And Ish-bosheth said to Abner, Why have you gone in to my fatherā€œs concubine? (2 Samuel 3:6-7)

In the lead scripture above, we find Abner, stretching forth his control and authority over Saul’s younger son, Ishbosheth…by taking claim and possession of the (deceased) King’s concubine.

You see, after the death of Saul and Prince Jonathan…Abner, Saul’s uncle and military commander, sat Ishbosheth upon his (deceased) father’s throne, in Israel.

In reality, Uncle Abner was the mastermind and the actual figure of authority in Israel, while Ishbosheth merely sat upon the throne…in (Saul’s) name only!

This power-play of Abner’s, further humbled and humiliated a powerless Ishbosheth, and it also publicly revealed the gaps in this young king’s armor.

Now, in a similar story in the Bible, we find that another close relative of a freshly anointed king (this time an older brother) has also made a power-play to strengthen and exalt himself by using their (deceased) father’s concubine as his power pawn ā™Ÿ

Although this princely brother had been next in-line to the throne, he had failed to receive enough public support to successfully reign in their father’s stead.

So, in his second attempt towards the throne, the king’s older brother approached the queen mom, peaceably, and requested to marry this concubine.

When word of this older brother’s petition reached the king’s ears, the king quickly recognized his big brother’s clever request for what it truly was…yet another strategic, attempt to usurp the throne!!

This angry king had previously shown his big brother great mercy, but this time, he must strengthen himself, and for the surety of his throne, the king must remove and execute this Usurper!!

Who was this (older) Brother/Usurper??
