Super Faith Sunday Answer- ‘Who is She??’

And Esau said, Behold, I am at the point to die: and what profit shall this birthright do to me? And Jacob said, Swear to me this day; and he sware unto him: and he sold his birthright unto Jacob. Then Jacob gave Esau bread and pottage of lentils; and he did eat and drink, and rose up, and went his way: thus Esau despised his birthright (Gen 25:29-34)

Hey Neighbor!

It’s Tuesday March 15, 2022 and Today I have Your Super Faith Sunday Answer!!

Our ‘Faith-Full’ Female of Week is Rebekah, Isaac’s wife and Esau and Jacob’s mother-

Or is it more correct to say;

Jacob and Esau’s mother- I guess it depends on who was born first!!

Or does it??

If I told you a story about 2 contentious brothers who were in a race to win the rights of the first born son, would you believe that the younger brother who was a plain, ordinary, tent-dwelling Momma’s boy -Jacob

Would dominate and prevail against his older twin, who was of superb physical condition, a hunter, and an outdoorsman with great strength and agility- Esau

Well It did happen and it’s True!!

In Genesis 25:29-34, Jacob did prevail against Esau by means of a bowl of beans- and a little bread!!

The story is right there on the page!!

And of all who would find themselves in shock or awe by this story, their mother would not!!

You see Rebekah had already had a talk with God about these two sons before they were born, because the race for the birthright began early on, during Rebekah’s pregnancy.

The twin boys, Esau (Red) and Jacob (Trickster) fought and struggled with one another throughout her pregnancy, so much so, that she went to inquire of the Lord regarding the great contention within her womb.

What was God’s Response??

  • The Lord said to her, [The founders of] two nations are in your womb, and the separation of two peoples has begun in your body; the one people shall be stronger than the other, and the elder shall serve the younger. (Gen 25:23)

Who knew that God performed the first ultrasound- Lol!!!🤣😂

God told Rachel that she was carrying two nations inside her belly- one stronger than the other, but the younger, weaker one would outpace and overtake the stronger.

I’m sure this answer sounded much like foolishness in the ears and mind of Rebekah, but like Mary- the Mother of Jesus- Rebekah weighed and pondered these things in her heart until she accepted and believed God’s Word as Truth!!

When it came time for Rebekah to deliver, she anticipated the birth of her twins, yet more eagerly, she awaiting the birth of her second son. He was the son that God Loved, and therefore Rebekah loved Jacob also!!

Now Esau was also loved, only more so, by his Father Isaac.

Yes! Esau was Isaac’s Favorite son and…

Yes! Jacob was Rebecca’s Favorite son and…

Yes! We did learn that parents openly  expressing favoritism amongst siblings is a very bad idea- as we’ve witnessed with Jacob and his 12 sons.

But Rebekah could not help herself, she had prayed to God, waited on God, and agreed with God’s plan for her son, Jacob.

After all she had no ill will towards her son, Esau – nor any expectation for anything adverse to come upon him…but Esau was not the son chosen by God!!

You see, Rebekah believed that Jacob was the Chosen son, anointed of God’s Promise- not Esau!!

As was her husband, Isaac who was the  Son of God’s Promise to Abraham- not Ishmael!!

You see, only one of Rebekah’s sons would win the race to now receive Isaac’s blessing!

Esau had already won the first leg of the race in the delivery room, coming in first place with Jacob- a close second at -his heels!! 😂

A reinvigorated Jacob, was able to win the second race, at the dinner table, when he acquired the birthright from an excessively fatigued and exhausted Esau!!

But now Rachel is bound and determined to push Jacob past the finish line to the Final, BY ANY MEANS NECESSARY, so that He might obtain his father’s blessing and ultimately, receive The Blessing of his Father, God!!

I love the Book of Genesis!!💕💕

I have so much more to share with you about Rebekah’s Faith, and also her Failures- but let’s pause here today and convene tomorrow and we’ll have a little more tea!!

No worries- It won’t be too hot 🥵

Thanks For Stopping By Today….

Super Faith Sunday Challenge- Who is She??

Hey Neighbor!

It’s Super Faith Sunday, where we feature Our ‘Female of the Week’ from the Bible.

Although We didn’t share a Super Faith Challenge Last Sunday, We did feature the stories of two Young Ladies from the Book of Genesis; Dinah and Tamar

Their stories were tragic and they quickly disappeared from the story, but God had placed them there on the pages, so that their names would never disappear from our hearts. Bible readers throughout history and time have read and will continue to read their stories and Remember the names: Dinah and Tamar!!

We’re still in the Book of Genesis, with a few more ladies to acknowledge.  Again we want to give them their flowers, while we’re here with them, in their Book and Chapter.

Remember Our Super Faith Female may not have possessed extraordinary physical strength, but she could pin you to the mat in a round of Faith!!

She refused to give up!!

She tightly grasped onto God’s Promises and Pressed on to the very end!!

She Fought the Good Fight of Faith!!

Here is Our Super Faith Female- Who is She??

***************************

She had been barren for 20 years of their marriage, but after much prayer, God blessed her with not 1 but 2 sons who contended with one another. She brought her issues before God and believed His message – that her weaker son would champion the stronger.  She refused to accept anything less for him- pressing forward on his behalf until the very last day that she saw her beloved son.

Solution Saturday Answer and ’A Snake in the Camp!!’

And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel (Gen 3:15)

Hey Neighbor!

Today is the unveiling of our Trivia Thursday Answer to: ‘The King’s Daughter.’

Beverley from the Blog, ’Becoming the Oil and the Wine’ submitted her correct Answer this week.

She also commented on this sad story, reminding Us that there are many lessons that can be learned through both Tamar’s tragedy, as well as Dinah’s.

Thanks Beverley👏👏👏

***********************************

Today’s featured daughter was named Tamar– not Judah’s Daughter-in-law – Tamar.

Yes! These two women share the same name.

Yes! She may even be a ’namesake,’ but she is no Canaanite.

She is born of the Tribe of Judah, a son of Jacob, and she is the baby girl to King David of Israel.

Now Very Much like Jacob, David had several wives and concubines (secondary wives) and therefore he had many children with multiple mothers.

Amongst them were, Tamar and her older (full) brother, Absalom. They were both children born to David, and their mother was named Maaccah.

Now the eldest brother, who was heir to the throne, and the first born son of David was Amnon.  His mother was named, Ahinoam.

There are several more wives and children of David’s to list from 1 Chronicles 3:1-9, but these are the most critical names that we will need to recognize, as we look into this tragic and incestuous tale.

Now prince Amnon had fallen ‘lovesick’ for his half-sister Tamar. So we know pretty early on that this young man already has some serious ‘issues.’

But he kept his feelings toward Tamar hidden.  The only person Amnon shared his secret with was the ‘very subtil,’ Jonadab.

Subtil- Sly;cunning; crafty; deceitful; treacherous.

Have We Seen This Word Before in the Bible??

Sure We Have!!

-Now the serpent was more ‘subtil’ than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?  (Gen 3:1)

Keep that in Mind!! 🧐

Now Jonadab is actually Amnon’s first cousin- The son of David’s brother- but here, he is described as a friend to Amnon, which reminds us, We should be very careful who We call ‘friend!’

But Jonadab is no friend, He is All foe, and the voice of the serpent speaks through him!!

Yes! It’s the serpent, now raising his ugly head from within King David’s household. He had previously slithered into the garden to beguile Eve and now he has slithered into Amnon’s house to beguile and defile Tamar.

Jonadab uses his crafty words, expressing false concern for Amnon, inquiring about his loss of appetite and his leanness, reminding him that he is the heir to the throne- Why should he be denied anything or anyone??

-including his sister, Tamar.

Satan had already prepared the ground, feeding Amnon’s incestuous lust for his sister, now he plants the seed of deception, advising him to use trickery to draw Tamar into his bedroom, all alone

The seed takes root and Amnon feigns illness,  using his leanness to appear sickly.  David of course, becomes concerned about Amon’s health and appearance and unwittingly sends to him Tamar- at Amnon’s request.

We know that this story does not end well for Tamar- nor does it end well for Amnon, but satan, once again has prevailed in the King’s Home!!

He had slithered into the House of David, biting his children, and thus resulting in terrible desolation and death amongst his children and the women in his home.

Now this woman, Young Tamar was satan’s original target here- as was Eve in the garden. He had slithered in to isolate, deceive, and to victimize the weaker sex. He also used this same strategy or M.O.- modus operandi against Dinah.

Remember, Dinah was ‘all alone’ when she was violated by Shechem.

Eve was ‘all alone’ when she was beguiled by satan.

And Tamar was ‘all alone’ when she was defiled by Amnon, which resulted in a lifetime of despair and desolation for this virtuous daughter of King David.

Unfortunately, the serpent is still loosed within David’s house, and we will soon witness the treacherous bite and the fall of the King’s younger son, Absalom.

Absalom will go on to seek his brother’s blood in vengeance. He will wait for David to administer justice for his sister Tamar, but when David fails to act, Absalom will take matters into his own hands and thus fall captive to satan’s trickery as well.

We Praise God for Jesus, Our King and Savior who came to Save the Sinner and Set the Captives of Satan Free!!

Remember Neighbor, there were also serpents in the wilderness, biting God’s people resulting in death and despair, but God told Moses to make a serpent of brass, and place it upon a pole, and those who were bitten could look upon the brazen serpent and live!! (Numbers 21:8-9)

That’s the representation of our Lord and Savior, Jesus upon the Cross!!

Unfortunately today, the fiery serpents still slither within our camp, as sin is still ever present in our flesh, but when We look to Jesus, Receiving Him as Our Saviour, and Repenting of Our Sins, Our bounds are loosed and the chains are broken!!

Don’t Forget Neighbor, We Still Have the Victory in Jesus!!

Revelation 20:12 tells Us that Jesus has already prevailed against that serpent of old and in the end- We Win!!

-And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years (Revelation 20:2)

Amen And Amen!!

‘Oldie-but a-Goodie’ Friday- Driver’s Permit!!

Hey Neighbor!

It’s March 11, 2022 and Today is Oldie-but a-Goodie Friday, where we resurrect an older CareBibleStudy Blog post and give it life!!

Today I have a Short and Sweet Treat for You. We originally posted this one in January of 2015.

It’s Pretty Funny- especially for Parents with Teens!!

Enjoy!!

*********************

Here’s a little light humor between a Christian Father and His Son!!

I found this on Bible.org

Here’s the story…

A young boy had just gotten his driving permit. He asked his father, who was a minister, if they could discuss the use of the car. His father took him to his study and said to him, “I’ll make a deal with you. You bring your grades up, study your Bible a little and get your hair cut and we’ll talk about it.”

After about a month the boy came back and again asked his father if they could discuss the use of the car. They again went to the father’s study where his father said, “Son, I’ve been real proud of you. You have brought your grades up, you’ve studied your Bible diligently, but you didn’t get your hair cut!” The young man waited a moment and replied, “You know Dad, I’ve been thinking about that. You know, Samson had long hair, Moses had long hair, Noah had long hair, and even Jesus had long hair….” To which his father replied, “Yes, and they walked every where they went!”

Cute- Huh??😉

Bible Trivia Thursday- The King’s Daughter!!

HeyNeighbor!

It’s Trivia Thursday!!

But first I have Your Answer to Our, impromptu Tuesday’s Trivia Question-Who’s That Lady??

**************************

She was the new girl in town, a new face in the land of Canaan. She was a chaste daughter of Jacob- a young virgin, who appeared to be traveling all alone when Shechem, the Hivite prince in the land, pounced upon the opportunity to come near to her, as there was no male with her to protect her, nor defend her.

Her brothers were with the livestock in the fields. We’re not told of the whereabouts of her father, nor her mother Leah at the time. We only know that the young girl ventured out alone, probably without her parent’s permission, and at some point, Shechem, being stronger than young Dinah, forced himself upon her and defiled her.

Yes! Rape did occur in the Bible. This was the first occurrence we learn of here in Genesis 34, but unfortunately it was not the last.

A slightly similar ‘defiling’ moment would later affect Dinah’s distant niece- a descendant ‘daughter’ of Dinah’s brother, Judah- and a daughter to a king in Israel in 2 Samuel.

Oddly, in this next story, it was not a stranger who raped the king’s daughter, but it was her brother, Amnon- who afterwards showed great disdain for his sister. After he had tricked her to come to his bedroom, he forced her to lay with him, then Amnon ‘hated’ her and threw her out!

Now in contrast to Amnon, scripture tells Us in Genesis 34:3, that afterwards Shechem’s ‘soul longed for and clung to Dinah.’ He had fallen in love with this young girl, and wanted her to stay with him, as his princess and bride.

Now this is by no means some fairy-tale love story!!

But it is a story of repentance!

Shechem felt great sorrow and regret for the dreadful thing that he had done to Dinah. He was sorely ashamed and wanted to make things right because he truly loved this girl and now wanted to appeal to her wishes.  Scripture says, Shechem spoke to Dinah comfortingly, trying to calm her heart and mind because he knew that he had violated her and had caused her shame before her father and had made her a reproach before her brothers in the land.

But What Must Be Done Now??

Shechem makes confession to his father, Hamor and asks his father to speak with Jacob and to beg for Dinah’s hand in marriage. When Jacob arrives to confront Hamor about the matter, scripture says that ‘Jacob held his peace’ until his sons had come.

We can only assume that Jacob stood there, listening intently to Shechem and Hamor, while he pondered what can be done to right the wrongs at this point.  After all, Schechem, who had previously dishonored his daughter was now willing to do the most honorable thing by marrying Dinah, in attempts to make things right amongst the two families in the land.

But unfortunately, Jacob stood silent for far too long-before his bloodthirsty sons arrived on the scene- already filled with anger and hatred; ready for war and vengeance!

I will spill more tea on Jacob and his sons later- but for today-since it’s Thursday…..

Who was this King’s Daughter (mentioned above) who Amon (her brother) tricked and defiled and afterwards hated??

Grab Your Bible’s and get comfortable, because the book of Samuel reads better than any novel You can possibly buy!!

Bible Trivia Tuesday-Who’s That Lady??

Hey Neighbor!

Did You Miss Our Super Faith Sunday Challenge??

The Good News is, No!! – You did Not!!

Instead I posted, ‘A Little Sunday School Humor- Lol!’

This was actually a pretty cute story-and very short….if you want to backtrack and check it out- I think you will enjoy a nice chuckle!!

But for Today, I have a Tuesday Trivia Question for You!!

We’re still in the book of Genesis, where we’re highlighting the lives of the ladies in the Bible, and re-discovering some of the tests and trials of the ‘lesser’ known females in the Book of Genesis.

Last week we featured Tamar in our Super Faith Sunday Challenge. She was Our ‘Woman of the Week,’ and we learned how she stubbornly refused to accept ‘No!’ for an answer- from the men in her life.

This week we find that in contrast, it was the obstinate young man in _____________’s life, who refused to accept ‘No!!’ for an answer.

Here are Your Hints*****

***********************

  • __________________was an Israelite girl- born to the union of a man with a ‘great name’ and to his ‘lesser loved’ wife.
  • __________________was her father’s first baby girl, amongst his 13 children; and she was her mother’s 7th child- and the last of her mother’s children, after she had given her husband 6 sons.
  • __________________walks onto the pages of the Bible as a teenager, traveling to visit her new girl-friends, in her new town.
  • Unfortunately, _________________was traveling alone and suffered a most undeserved fate, before her name eventually disappears from the pages of the Bible.

A Little ‘Sunday School’ Humor – LOL!!

I wanted to Share This Sunday School Story with You that I read this Weekend.

It’s really cute…and it’s just another reason to bring the children to Sunday School.

Lol!!

Here’s The Story.

************************

Little Bobby was spending the weekend with his grandmother. His grandmother decided to take him to the park on Saturday morning. It had been snowing all night and everything was beautiful. His grandmother remarked…”doesn’t it look like an artist painted this scenery? Did you know God painted this just for you?”
Bobby said, “Yes, God did it and he did it left handed.”

This confused his grandmother a bit, and she asked him “What makes you say God did this with his left hand?”

“Well,” said Bobby, “We learned at Sunday School last week that Jesus sits on God’s right hand!”

…Too Funny!!

Solution Saturday Answers- Whose Wife Is This??

Hey Neighbor!

I have Trivia Thursday Answers for you today because today is – Solution Saturday!!

Obviously I’m an alliteration fan- Lol!! 💕💕

This week I wanted to give some of the wives in the Book of Genesis a little attention, and We did!!

But Today, I also have to give Our ’Faith-Full’ CareBibleStudy follower, and my Super Faith husband some attention!!

Dewitt!!👏👏👏☄️🤩🤩

Dewitt got all 6 Trivia questions correct- He also commented that #5- The Daughter of Shuah – was a really tough one!!

Thanks Hubby for Playing!!😘🥰

Ok- So We’ve all heard of the Patriarchs- Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob! But what about their wives??

Aside from Abraham’s wife, Sarah, I don’t think we’ve studied very much about the other wives in Genesis- Have You??

How many of these wives did you recognize??

Which one was the toughest for You??

Now, If you’ve been studying along with us, most of these were eazy-peazy, because we’ve been going on and on about Jacob and his FOUR wives in our Lessons on, ‘The Pit Before the Palace.’ – with still more to come!!

You can always backtrack and play catch-up, if you like!!

Our Question This Week was:

Whose Wife is This??

Here are Your Answers:

Enjoy!!💕

***********************

  1. Rachel was the wife of Jacob. (Genesis 29:30)
  2. Asenath was the wife of Joseph(Genesis 41:45)
  3. Leah was the wife of Jacob. (Genesis 29:25)
  4. She falsely accused Joseph of rape- Her husband was Potiphar. (Genesis 39:14-15)
  5. She was the daughter of Shuah- Her husband was Judah. (Genesis 38:2)
  6. Dinah was the ‘wife’ of Shechem(Genesis 34:2-4)

I used ‘wife’ loosely here with #6.

As Dinah and Shechem were betrothed and she was taken into his household to wed.

There is so, so much more to Dinah and Shechem’s ‘love story.’  I will spill the tea on that soon enough- and be careful, cause the tea is Hot!!🥵

God’s ’Faith-full’ Daughter – Tamar!!

Hey Neighbor!

Today is actually Oldie-but a-Goodie Friday, where we resurrect a CareBibleStudy blog of old, and give it life again- Lol!! But today I felt inspired to share more about our ’faith-full’ woman of the week – Tamar!!

Did you answer this weeks Super Faith Sunday Question correctly??

Our Question was- Who is She??

And our Answer was: Tamar!! (Judah’s daughter-in-law)

I posted the answer for you this week, along with a little background on our ‘faith-full’ Tamar, but I also promised your more….

If you need to play catch-up, here is Tuesday’s background Lesson:

If not- here’s more today about Tamar and Judah:

********************

Tamar had become impatient with her father-in law, Judah and behaved desperately, because he had rejected the union between herself and Judah’s youngest son, Shelah.

When Onan, Tamar’s second husband died, Shelah was only a boy and could not yet be permitted to marry. So Judah sent Tamar away from his house, with only a promise of a future marriage to his last son, Shelah.

You see, according to their custom, Shelah was now betrothed or promised to Tamar as her husband. Now when Shelah becomes a ’grownup,’ he is obligated to wed Tamar and give her a son- their first born son- in the name of his deceased older brother, Er, Tamar’s first husband.

I hope you got all that- It gets Tricky!!

But it seems that Judah feared that this woman was accursed!!

In Judah’s eyes, he saw that each of his 2 sons, Er and Onan had died, suddenly and mysteriously, after having wed this woman.

Judah did not want to see nor accept his own guilt in the matter – nor accept that his two sons had done evil in the sight of the Lord and therefore, God killed them both!!

Unfortunately Er and Onan were wicked, unrepentant men, as they were born to a wicked, unrepentant Judah, who had also shamelessly sold his younger brother, Joseph into Slavery.

But God had clearly seen Judah’s sins, though he thought they were hidden- and scripture tells us that our God is Just and He visits the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generations. (Deuteronomy 5:9)

Our God, who is Just, is also a merciful God Who restrained His wrath upon this Canaanite Woman, Tamar and upon Judah, who had conceived their twin boys together in lust and incest.

Yes!! Judah and Tamar’s twin sons were born to a mother- who disguised herself, and pretended to be a hooker and a ‘john’ father, who had come along and solicited her favors!!

Now Judah did not know that his daughter-in-law, Tamar was the woman ‘dressed up’ as the prostitute when he slept with her. This is revealed later in the story when Tamar’s pregnancy becomes evident.

You see, Judah had purchased the woman’s (Tamar) favors with a pledge, (promise to pay) leaving the prostitute (his daughter-in-law) with his ring, bracelets, and staff in her hands temporarily, until he returned with payment.

It was about three months later when Judah learned of Tamar’s (hidden) pregnancy, that he viciously accused her of whoredom and adultery against his son Shelah!!

Judah, in his own self-righteousness, demanded that Tamar be brought out and burned for her sins- not stoned, as was customary – yet he still did not admit to his own sins!!

So Tamar was forced to produce the very same items that Judah had given to her, as a pledge, from the night that he laid with her saying;

-By the man, whose these are, am I with child: and she said, Discern, I pray thee, whose are these, the signet, and bracelets, and staff.

And Judah acknowledged them, and said, She hath been more righteous than I; because that I gave her not to Shelah my son. And he knew her again no more. (Genesis 38:25-26)

It wasn’t until Tamar brought forth the evidence of Judah’s sin against her, that he was finally forced to publicly declare his own guilt, confessing that Tamar had been more righteous than him!!

You may say – Righteous?????

Yes!! The inspired scripture describes Tamar as righteous.

Yes!! Tamar was a Canaanitess, an idol worshipping, pagan woman.  But somewhere in time, Tamar had chosen to believe in the God of Jacob-her husband’s grandfather, who was yet still alive. Maybe he shared their family history, causing Tamar to embrace the faith of her husband’s patriarchal ancestors, Abraham and Isaac – even when their wicked grandsons Er and Onan had refused to do so!

Tamar learned that her first 2 husbands, Er and Onan were the great, great, grandsons of the Patriarch, Abraham who by faith, believed unto righteousness and was called a son of God. She believed that she too could be counted as a ‘faith-full’ daughter in God’s Promise of the coming Messiah through Abraham!!

Tamar had diligently waited years for Shelah, to no avail. She had been so long ignored, closed up in her father’s house, dressed in her widow’s garments and utterly forgotten. But her Father (God) who she had chosen to hope in, He had not forgotten Tamar!!

He saw how Tamar had been callously mistreated while she lived in Judah’s household. He saw that she had been used, abused, and finally abandoned by Judah and his sons. But God also saw the beautiful transformation in Tamar’s heart!!

Yes!! God remembered his daughter Tamar, not because she behaved so righteously, because she didn’t!!

God remembered Tamar because she believed unto righteousness, by faith!!

God blessed her womb, filling it with – not 1, but 2 sons of Abraham. One Pharez, the other Zarah!

It was Tamar’s son Pharez, her first born son, who would be counted as an ancestral ‘father’ in the genealogy of Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Pharez was not a son born of his mother’s merit, for she was not chaste in her flesh, but he was a son gifted to Tamar through God’s Grace, because Tamar kept the Faith!!

Bible Trivia Thursday- Whose Wife is This??

Hey Neighbor!

It’s Trivia Thursday!!

I had gotten pretty busy yesterday and so I began to fret, thinking that I had forgotten to work on trivia questions. But the Holy Spirit does not forget- He brings all things to our remembrance. (John 14:26)

He reminded me that I had already typed out my 6 questions a little while back.

Whew!! 😰

So since we’ve been Studying Jacob’s Boys, Joseph, and his male Siblings, I thought today I would take a detour and look back at some of the females, particularly the wives.

We have already been learning about Tamar, with still more to come. Tamar was the Canaanite wife of Er and Onan. (Genesis 38)

Remember that Er and Onan were sons born to Judah – who was Jacob’s 4th born Son, and he was also the brother who decided to sell Joseph into Slavery.

But let’s not ignore, nor overlook the remaining wives in Genesis 34, 37-41.

We want to give them their flowers- though some of these wives are much deserving- and others are certainly NOT!!

But that’s Another Lesson for Another Day!!

Your Challenge For Today:

Some of these will be super easy if you have been studying and reading Our CareBibleStudy Lessons, others a little harder so……
