Hereâs a little light humor between a Christian Father and His Son!!
I found this on Bible.org
Hereâs the storyâŚ
A young boy had just gotten his driving permit. He asked his father, who was a minister, if they could discuss the use of the car. His father took him to his study and said to him, âIâll make a deal with you. You bring your grades up, study your Bible a little and get your hair cut and weâll talk about it.â
After about a month the boy came back and again asked his father if they could discuss the use of the car. They again went to the fatherâs study where his father said, âSon, Iâve been real proud of you. You have brought your grades up, youâve studied your Bible diligently, but you didnât get your hair cut!â The young man waited a moment and replied, âYou know Dad, Iâve been thinking about that. You know, Samson had long hair, Moses had long hair, Noah had long hair, and even Jesus had long hairâŚ.â To which his father replied, âYes, and they walked every where they went!â
******************************** Cute- Huh??đ

Obviously Iâm an alliteration fan- Lol!! đđ
This week I wanted to give some of the wives in the Book of Genesis a little attention, and We did!!
But Today, I also have to give Our âFaith-Fullâ CareBibleStudy follower, and my Super Faith husband some attention!!
Dewitt!!đđđâď¸đ¤Šđ¤Š
Dewitt got all 6 Trivia questions correct- He also commented that #5- The Daughter of Shuah – was a really tough one!!
Thanks Hubby for Playing!!đđĽ°
Ok- So Weâve all heard of the Patriarchs- Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob! But what about their wives??Â
Aside from Abrahamâs wife, Sarah, I donât think weâve studied very much about the other wives in Genesis- Have You??
How many of these wives did you recognize??
Which one was the toughest for You??
Now, If youâve been studying along with us, most of these were eazy-peazy, because weâve been going on and on about Jacob and his FOUR wives in our Lessons on, âThe Pit Before the Palace.â – with still more to come!!Â
You can always backtrack and play catch-up, if you like!!
Our Question This Week was:Â
Whose Wife is This??
Here are Your Answers:
Enjoy!!đ
***********************
Rachel was the wife of Jacob. (Genesis 29:30)
Asenath was the wife of Joseph. (Genesis 41:45)
Leah was the wife of Jacob. (Genesis 29:25)
She falsely accused Joseph of rape- Her husband was Potiphar. (Genesis 39:14-15)
She was the daughter of Shuah- Her husband was Judah. (Genesis 38:2)
Dinah was the âwifeâ of Shechem. (Genesis 34:2-4)
I used âwifeâ loosely here with #6.
As Dinah and Shechem were betrothed and she was taken into his household to wed.
There is so, so much more to Dinah and Shechemâs âlove story.â I will spill the tea on that soon enough- and be careful, cause the tea is Hot!!đĽľ

Today is actually Oldie-but a-Goodie Friday, where we resurrect a CareBibleStudy blog of old, and give it life again- Lol!! But today I felt inspired to share more about our âfaith-fullâ woman of the week – Tamar!!
Did you answer this weeks Super Faith Sunday Question correctly??
Our Question was- Who is She??
And our Answer was: Tamar!! (Judahâs daughter-in-law)
I posted the answer for you this week, along with a little background on our âfaith-fullâ Tamar, but I also promised your moreâŚ.
If you need to play catch-up, here is Tuesdayâs background Lesson:
If not- hereâs more today about Tamar and Judah:
********************
Tamar had become impatient with her father-in law, Judah and behaved desperately, because he had rejected the union between herself and Judahâs youngest son, Shelah.
When Onan, Tamarâs second husband died, Shelah was only a boy and could not yet be permitted to marry. So Judah sent Tamar away from his house, with only a promise of a future marriage to his last son, Shelah.
You see, according to their custom, Shelah was now betrothed or promised to Tamar as her husband. Now when Shelah becomes a âgrownup,â he is obligated to wed Tamar and give her a son- their first born son- in the name of his deceased older brother, Er, Tamarâs first husband.
I hope you got all that- It gets Tricky!!
But it seems that Judah feared that this woman was accursed!!
In Judahâs eyes, he saw that each of his 2 sons, Er and Onan had died, suddenly and mysteriously, after having wed this woman.
Judah did not want to see nor accept his own guilt in the matter – nor accept that his two sons had done evil in the sight of the Lord and therefore, God killed them both!!
Unfortunately Er and Onan were wicked, unrepentant men, as they were born to a wicked, unrepentant Judah, who had also shamelessly sold his younger brother, Joseph into Slavery.
But God had clearly seen Judahâs sins, though he thought they were hidden- and scripture tells us that our God is Just and He visits the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generations. (Deuteronomy 5:9)
Our God, who is Just, is also a merciful God Who restrained His wrath upon this Canaanite Woman, Tamar and upon Judah, who had conceived their twin boys together in lust and incest.
Yes!! Judah and Tamarâs twin sons were born to a mother- who disguised herself, and pretended to be a hooker and a âjohnâ father, who had come along and solicited her favors!!
Now Judah did not know that his daughter-in-law, Tamar was the woman âdressed upâ as the prostitute when he slept with her. This is revealed later in the story when Tamarâs pregnancy becomes evident.
You see, Judah had purchased the womanâs (Tamar) favors with a pledge, (promise to pay) leaving the prostitute (his daughter-in-law) with his ring, bracelets, and staff in her hands temporarily, until he returned with payment.
It was about three months later when Judah learned of Tamarâs (hidden) pregnancy, that he viciously accused her of whoredom and adultery against his son Shelah!!
Judah, in his own self-righteousness, demanded that Tamar be brought out and burned for her sins- not stoned, as was customary – yet he still did not admit to his own sins!!
So Tamar was forced to produce the very same items that Judah had given to her, as a pledge, from the night that he laid with her saying;
-By the man, whose these are, am I with child: and she said, Discern, I pray thee, whose are these, the signet, and bracelets, and staff.
And Judah acknowledged them, and said, She hath been more righteous than I; because that I gave her not to Shelah my son. And he knew her again no more. (Genesis 38:25-26)
It wasnât until Tamar brought forth the evidence of Judahâs sin against her, that he was finally forced to publicly declare his own guilt, confessing that Tamar had been more righteous than him!!
You may say – Righteous?????
Yes!! The inspired scripture describes Tamar as righteous.
Yes!! Tamar was a Canaanitess, an idol worshipping, pagan woman.  But somewhere in time, Tamar had chosen to believe in the God of Jacob-her husbandâs grandfather, who was yet still alive. Maybe he shared their family history, causing Tamar to embrace the faith of her husbandâs patriarchal ancestors, Abraham and Isaac – even when their wicked grandsons Er and Onan had refused to do so!Â
Tamar learned that her first 2 husbands, Er and Onan were the great, great, grandsons of the Patriarch, Abraham who by faith, believed unto righteousness and was called a son of God. She believed that she too could be counted as a âfaith-fullâ daughter in Godâs Promise of the coming Messiah through Abraham!!
Tamar had diligently waited years for Shelah, to no avail. She had been so long ignored, closed up in her fatherâs house, dressed in her widowâs garments and utterly forgotten. But her Father (God) who she had chosen to hope in, He had not forgotten Tamar!!
He saw how Tamar had been callously mistreated while she lived in Judahâs household. He saw that she had been used, abused, and finally abandoned by Judah and his sons. But God also saw the beautiful transformation in Tamarâs heart!!
Yes!! God remembered his daughter Tamar, not because she behaved so righteously, because she didnât!!
God remembered Tamar because she believed unto righteousness, by faith!!
God blessed her womb, filling it with – not 1, but 2 sons of Abraham. One Pharez, the other Zarah!
It was Tamarâs son Pharez, her first born son, who would be counted as an ancestral âfatherâ in the genealogy of Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Pharez was not a son born of his motherâs merit, for she was not chaste in her flesh, but he was a son gifted to Tamar through Godâs Grace, because Tamar kept the Faith!!

How did you do with the Super Faith Sunday Challenge Question?Â
I did receive 2 comments with Correct Answers!!
Yay!!!
One of them was from Eva N.đđđ. The other was from my Husband, Dewitt, but I suspect that he may have been peeking at the Teacherâs Answer Key. Lol!
Just Kidding!!
Good Job, Dewitt!!đđđĽ°
*********So Who was this âfaith-fullâ woman??
She was Tamar!!
***********
Were you able to figure it out also??
I have to admit, it was a little tricky!!
Especially considering that many might say that it is debatable whether or not Tamar should be considered a woman of faith!!
After All, she had several things working against herâŚ
She was a Canaanite woman, born amongst her people-who openly practiced idolatry, adultery, and incest, etc., etc.,etc.
Her first Husband, Er dropped dead sometime after their wedding!
Her second husband, Onan also dropped dead after their wedding!!
Her third husband Shelah, who she was betrothed to- He both rejected her and avoided her in public spaces!!
Also, many believed Tamar to be accursed, because of these unfortunate occurrences with the men in her life!!
Tamar was also not a woman we would consider to be âchaste.â
She connived to sleep with her father-in-law by dressing up as a prostitute!!
Then she showed up 3 months pregnant, when she should have been âsheltering-in placeâ as a widow @ her fatherâs house.
WellâŚ..Can You guess who was her Babiesâ Daddy?? (She had twins!!)
Yep!! It was Judah, her Father-in-Law!!
Yep!! Thatâs another one of Jacobâs Messy Sons!!
Who knew all of this kind of carrying on was in the Bible??
Oh!! – It gets Spicyđś
Look at King David and Bathsheba!
She was a married woman- and David slept with her and then killed her husband, so that he wouldnât find out that David had gotten her pregnant!!
But Guess What??
Bathsheba is also listed in the genealogy of Jesus!!
Yes- she too is a Mother of the Messiah!!
Say What??
1st there is Tamar!
2nd is Rahab- another prostitute. 3rd- Ruth, the Moabitess.
And then there was (4) Bathsheba- not listed specifically by name, but she was instead listed as, âThe wife of Uriahâ because she was married!!
So God obviously saw something in Tamar that We, as mere mortals missed- Because He Counted Her Amongst the âMothers Of Jesus!!â
Was God looking at Tamarâs Heart??
I believe so, because Scripture tells Us that God does not look upon the outward appearance, as mere mortals do.
-But the Lord said to Samuel, Look not on his appearance or at the height of his stature, for I have rejected him. For the Lord sees not as man sees; for man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart. (1Samuel 16:)
I believe God saw Tamarâs heart and He stamped It Grade A+ Approved!! And although the wicked men in her life shunned her, God Loved and Accepted Tamar!!
Remember, in Genesis 38:6-10, Moses (the Writer) calls Tamarâs first 2 husbands wicked and God rejected them as His sons and slew them both.
But notice that Tamar was not labeled as âwickedâ – nor was her life shortened by God!!
In fact- this same writer will later in the story, call Tamar Righteous!!
I can go on and on tonight, but instead I will âspill more of this teaâ on Judah and Tamar Tomorrow!!
Until Next Time, RememberâŚ
